Caroline stepped out of the room Damon had been buried in... or what was left of him after the fire. She wanted to give Stefan some alone time.
As she had walked outside, she saw Bonnie... and, it couldn't be... Elena. But how? She didn't care, though. She just smiled. In times like these, she needed her best friend. She wanted to hug her, but just as she was about to, Stefan came out and was behind Caroline, so she dodged. When the two saw each other it felt like everything was going to be okay.
Stefan didn't even think "how?", he just knew the love of his life is in front of him and they could live a human life together now.
They both ran to each other and when they finally collided they kissed passionately. Bonnie and Stefan had had their ups and downs but at this moment she remembered his humanity and forgave him.
Stefan took a look at Elena: "You're here."
"I am, and I'm never leaving again. I love you."
