'You should see this' Preston called to Cameron, but we were all too curious and decided to join.
It was security footage from inside the garage, it was time-stamped for 3:37am and showed Camille stood in front of Winters desk looking at her phone. She held the phone to her ear for a few seconds then started frantically looking around. I felt uneasy watching it. Knowing i wasnt there for her. It hurt. Suddenly there was a large flash of light in the footage leaving the garage empty after.
'What the.. she's gone!' Toby exclaimed as he watched.
Everyone stared at the screen in horror. My mind had stopped functioning, and i was unable to move. Suddenly, a large crash sounded from the back of the base, causing the team to turn their attention away from the screen. I sprinted towards the origin of the noise, unsure of what i was going to do when i got there.
'Nora!' Cameron called after me.
I threw myself around the corner to be suddenly grabbed by the throat and hauled into the large bookshelf.
'What the..' Winter mumbled, confused by the sight.
I screamed in agony as i held my hand to my lower back, my wound throbbing with pain. I looked up to see an all too familiar pair of illuminous purple eyes.
'Hello sweetie. Did you miss me?' He glared down at me, a sinister smile growing across his face.
'Stern?' Preston queried as he too span around the corner.
I pushed myself out of all the books, the pain that radiating from my wound making it hard to think straight... nor stand straight.
'What are you doing here?' I asked as i rubbed my forehead.
He turned to Cameron, winked then pounced at me.
I gasped in panic and jumped towards Cameron, tucking myself behind him and peering over his shoulder.
'Give me the girl.' He said, staring blankly at Cameron.
He glared back at Stern, put his hand behind his back and placed it on my hip as a way of telling me that i was safe.
'GIVE HER TO ME!' He yelled stepping closer to us.
Winter began staring at the fallen bookshelf, and held her hands out infront of her.
'Stay away from her!' She screamed, flinging her hands in Sterns direction causing a load of books to be hurled his way.
I ducked behind Cameron, laying my head on his upper back and closing my eyes in fear. I could hear his heart beat. It was calm. I'm glad someone is!
'Give me her or the other one dies!'
I opened my eyes and stared forward as i took in those last 3 words he just uttered. I whipped my head up, slid infront of Cameron, and looked up at Stern.
'The other one?' I asked slowly.
'Come with me or she dies' he replied showing me a picture of Camille wearing a vest top and some short shorts. She had cuts and bruises randomly dotted all over her body.
'You have 24 hours to give yourself over to me. If not,..'
'We get the point' i said, hobbling over to the sofa in the main area, my hand still pressing my wound.
I looked at my phone. '10:37'. 24 hours.
I flopped onto the sofa and stared up at the ceiling. I stayed like this for about an hour. Maybe more. I lost track of time.
'Hey' said a soft voice as someone sat down beside me.
I looked over to find Cameron looking up at the ceiling just as i was. I wanted to smile just looking at him but i couldnt let myself think of anything other than Camille.
My phone beeped causing me to close my eyes.
'Leave me alone' i whispered under my breath.
Suddenly, everyone elses phones started beeping in canon.
'Oh my god!' Winter exclaimed.
'Oh god, what now' Cameron said as he too picked up his phone to look.
I figured i should probably see what all the fuss was about.
'Unknown number' was sprawled across my screen.
I opened the message causiously to find a text saying;
'Nora? Its Camille. Im pretty sure this is your number, i dont usually have to write it out! That creeper from the other night grabbed me and dragged me to some creepy building on Melrose. I didnt call the police as i think they would probably believe i was crazy saying some guy with glowing purple eyes kidnapped me. Dont message back incase he sees. Dont do anything he asks you to do. You have superpowers now. Use them! Get me out of this place Nora. Please. I believe in you and i love you Xxxxxxxx
I smiled at the text. 'Thank god' i thought, holding my phone to my chest.
Cameron moved to directly infront of me, causing me to look up at him.
'Are you okay?' He asked clearly concerned. It was cute.
'We should probably check your wound. He threw you pretty hard!' He said moving to look. He gently lifted my shirt, his fingers travelling slowly up my back.
'Woah guys! Get a room!' Toby giggled. Cameron quickly put my shirt back down, obviously embarassed and Winter hit Toby upside the head.
'I didnt mean to make you uncomfortable, i was just..'
'Its okay. I wasnt uncomfortable. I feel very comfortable when im with you' i stopped him.
He smiled.
I could hear Toby trying to flirt with Winter across the room. It's always funny to listen to.
Everybody had thrown their phones to the side, clearly not phased by their notification.
'You guys get the message?' I asked as i looked at the others.
'Message? No i got an alert' Winter answered.
'Same' Toby joined in.
'Me too' Said both Preston and Cameron.
'An alert? What for?' I asked, intrigued
'Some building blew up. It was really old. They think it was just a faulty gas line but apparently they found a body.' Winter explained.
'Where?' I stared at Winter.
'Huh?'
'WHERE!' I yelled.
She glared back at me in shock.
'Sorry. Believe it or not, im a little tense. I just meant, where was the building that blew up? What street?' i apologised.
'Melrose' she stated.
