As i reached out to open the dumpster, the lid flew open crashing against the bricks behind it and making a loud 'BANG'. As the lid opened, out jumped Stern with his glowing purple eyes and a large, intimidating and out-right creepy grin spread across his face.
'You had to be nosey and try to find your little whore of a friend. Now, you're gonna regret it' He said with a sarcastic and patronising tone, then blasted up into the air and disappeared over the building.
'Get him!' Winter screamed as we all ran back out into the street, just in time to see a purple glow around a tall office building that stood at the end of the street.
Suddenly, the building began to bend in the middle and bits of scaffolding were snapping off. When the purple glow disappeared, Stern flew over to the team and stood a few metres infront of us.
'Dont try to cross me. Or you'll get your friend back.. in pieces.' He said angrily, then took off yet again.
As i returned my focus to the building that he bent, i watched in panic as it started falling towards the ground, towards hundreds of terrified people.
I held my hands up, hoping for maybe some telekinetic powers like Winters to reveal themselves. Instead, I managed to push air together to form a strong force, which I used to stop the building from falling. Winter used her telekinetic powers to also help push the building back up. Preston ran off into the crowd whilst Cameron grabbed Toby and disappeared into the sky.
'I can't hold it Winter!' I screamed, using everything I had to push the building up.
'I dont even know how you're doing this!' She said looking over at me.
People continued to run past us, screaming in terror. Suddenly, i saw Cameron reappear as he landed forcefully between me and Winter.
'Winter, stay here and continue to hold it up as best you can. Nora, you have to come with me.' He said, calm but clearly out of breath.
'Come with you?'
'Yes. Come on' He said, gently placing his arm around my waist and pulling me in close. I looked into his eyes and he did the same.
'Ready?' He asked with a small grin.
'As i'll ever be' i replied squeezing my eyes shut and nestling my head just under his chin.
I felt the air blowing against my skin and the soft touch of Camerons cheek beside my ear. Slowly, the wind became quieter and Cameron moved his head slightly away from mine.
'Open your eyes' he said.
I slowly peeled my eyes open and looked at him. He smiled hugely at me. As i turned my gaze to around us, i could see nothing but blue sky.
'Oh my god!' I exclaimed as i looked on in awe.
'Here, stand on my feet. To help you balance.'
I looked down, revealing the mess that we were just dealing with. I stepped onto his feet and continued to look down. All of a sudden, my foot slips and i began hurtling towards the falling building, only to be stopped dead in my tracks and hoisted back up to find Cameron.
'Oh my.. oh.. oh god.. i just.. i almost..'
'But you didnt. I've got you, okay. Now, if you are willing to help.. I' he started.
'Of course. I wanna help. Yes.' I blurted out, not really thinking anymore after that traumatic moment.
'Good' He smiled.
'I need you to use your vines. We are gonna tie the sucker into place. Its a temporary solution until people come to properly stabilise it' he explained, not breaking eye contact.
'Okay, but i dont have much control over my powers. It just kind of happens.' I worried as i looked down at the mess below.
'I believe in you'
I looked up at him, gazing into both of his eyes, down at his lips, then back to his eyes.
'Okay, lets do this' I exclaimed.
He headed towards the top of the falling building and stopped mid-air once again.
'You can do this Nora' He whispered softly into my ear, causing me to twitch a little.
I focused on the building, pictured pulling it up in my head. I could feel Camerons warm breath on the back of my neck. I felt.. strong. Before i knew it, i had a vine wrapped tight around the building.
Cameron flew us over to the left to a nearby building and landed. He took one end of the vine and tied it around the building we landed on. He then flew back up to me.
'I'll be right back okay?' He smiled, taking the other end of the vine out of my hand, running his thumb across the back of it softly. He pushed himself off of the building and flew off into the distance.
I looked down to see Toby and Preston trying to direct people away. Winter was still trying to hold the building up, people barging into her in panic.
I looked back to Cameron as he tied the other end to a different building to the right, making the building temporarily stable. I sighed in relief. Was this my fault? I made the team come here. And for what? Camille is no where to be seen. But she can't be dead. Not after what Stern said.
I stared below, watching Toby gleefully hop over to Winter who was still holding the building up until Cameron had it secured. Preston followed slowly behind.
'If i cant have you, NO ONE CAN!' Someone screamed from behind me.
I span around in shock as i see a pair of purple eyes and feel a strong force smash against my chest, propelling me off of the building and into the air.
I screamed in terror as i hurtled towards the ground. I could see Stern peer over the edge, a huge grin smeared across his face.
I turned towards the ground.
'HELP!' I screeched helplessly.
'HELP!'
