Anne tapped her fingers impatiently on the marble surface of her table. She regretted not bringing her headphones with her so that she could distract herself with music.
A few minutes later, Natalie walked up to Anne's table holding the huge latte. Natalie didn't have any expression on her face while walking over, revealing her resting bitch face.
Anne's heartbeat started racing nonetheless.
"Here's your latte!" Natalie's face changed as a grin crept on it and Anne couldn't help but smile warmly back.
They stayed there smiling like idiots at each other for a solid awkward minute, unable to look away.
Natalie took a seat across from Anne, still keeping eye contact. Anne felt a blush creeping on her cheeks which was weird because she very rarely blushed.
"Aren't you supposed to be working or something?" Anne hesitantly asked, regretting the question as soon as she spoke it. It was like she wanted Natalie to leave, but in reality she really just wanted her to stay so they could chat and get to know each other (c;).
"Business here is boring. You're the third customer today, and it's already past noon," Natalie replied. "My boss said if no one is really coming in I can take a break."
Anne nodded. She had rarely ever seen other customers at the shop, and she visits it everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. "Are you the only one working here right now?"
Natalie nodded and chuckled. Anne's eyes widened. That was hot.
"My boss was here earlier, but said he had to leave for a very short while," Natalie explained. "It's been five hours though."
Anne unconsciously narrowed her eyes and her grip on her latte tightened. It was stupid, very stupid of how possessive she was over some barista she didn't even know the last name or age of. The barista's relationship with her boss was most definitely business only too, but Anne couldn't help the jealousy in her heart turning her blood to fire.
She had hella feelings for this girl who Anne just met and believed was straighter than the rulers she used to throw at other annoying ass students back in elementary school.
Suddenly the entrance to the shop opened and a crowd of noisy teenagers all holding out their phones burst in.
"Fuck fuckity fucker fuck," Natalie muttered out harshly. "My boss warned me about that loud group who skip school to be annoying here."
Natalie groaned and dropped her head into her arms which were resting in the table while Anne frowned. She had never seen this group in the shop before - then again she never came around this time (c;).
In the background one of the kids starting videotaping another and screaming "DAB BITCH, THIS IS WHAT U GET FOR LOSING TO ME IN FORTNITE!!"
Anne stopped looking at the ugly teens when Natalie suddenly snatched a napkin from the cute napkin holder on the table and quickly scribbled out something on it, then passed it to Anne.
"My number," Natalie clarified, and was Anne stupid or was that a fucking really cute blush dusting her pale cheeks?
Natalie continued, "I'll have to deal with them for a while so I probably won't get to talk to you again but text me please and maybe we could hang out sometime?"
Anne noticed that Natalie seemed really nervous, and although she was not stuttering she was talking really fast. Anne found that really fucking cute, especially with the almost blush on her face.
She blinked for a while, unable to escape that stupid daze she was stuck in - aGAIN for the 4201738216969 time today.
When she finally snapped out of it, a small smile crept on her lips. "Okay. I'll see you soon."
