Natalie was shook. Emotions had been flowing aggressively through her - confusion, sadness, anger, longing, other emotions, and most importantly love.

But now there was nothing.

She had screamed for the doctors when the heart monitor stopped beeping and they rushed in. They ordered her to go to the waiting room, but instead she was right outside Anne's room, right where they left her when they shoved her out. She had been standing there, her back facing the door, for a while.

It was like she was corpse or something. She wasn't feeling, she wasn't thinking. She was just being. Just a body stuck in a place she couldn't seem to move out of.

She was still conscious of what was going on around her; many people had walked past in the hallway, sending her judging and confused looks. She didn't care or even think about it.

Finally, when a couple walked past her, both smiling at each other with tears in their eyes, did she jolt to reality. Her emotions and thoughts caught up to her and were building inside her, though everything seemed hazy like she was on drugs.

She looked around the empty hall that the couple had just walked through, and she stumbled her way through it. She went inside an already open elevator and clumsily jammed her thumb into the button for the main floor.

She got out of the elevator and almost tripped over herself as she somehow made her way out of the back of the small hospital, ignoring all the people staring at her. She burst out a back door and to a dark, sketchy alleyway.

She would have looked drunk to anyone who saw her clumsily walking in the alley. If they looked at her face, she'd look high. But if they looked into her eyes, they would understand. Her eyes looked like cracked glass.

It was easy to tell that something had broken inside her, and her sudden drunk, high, mess of a state was the result of it.

She was almost out of the alleyway when suddenly her thoughts and emotions were too much for her.

She blacked out before she slammed down into the pavement.
