Waiting for Mr.Right

Chapter 5

Nicholas's POV

       Jen was right. We got a lot of investment for our new project. But it was not only my effort but also colleagues and my ancestors including my Dad. It was just because of them I had got an enormous amount of trust within a short time. I felt damn proud to be a solely heir of the West family.

      At the same time, I felt pity for my dead brother, Douglas. Then memories came in a rush and I felt angry at the same time. How stupid of him to trust in a woman! How awful of that woman to stab my brother's back by sleeping with our cousin!
     
        I fisted my hands and clenched my jaw tight to control my anger. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder and heard my mom's whisper in attempt to get my attention.

        "Hey Mom. Why are you whispering all of the sudden?" I said with a smile on my face. Thanks to Mom for distracting me from my thoughts or I was on the verge of exploding my anger.
      
        "I don't see even a shadow of Chole. Do find her. Poor girl might be lost her way or sth. And I don't want her to miss the bidding," she was still whispering (as if it was a big secret) with a frown.
    
        "Why Mom? She is not a baby,is she? I'm sure she can find her way back here. It's not like she is kidnapped." I said sarcastically. Maybe I hadn't gotten all out of my sour mood.

         It seemed my words made her facial expression worse. Her face was pale and then she breathed in and out quite a lot.

       "Oh no. I'm so sorry Mom. Don't panic. I'll definitely find her. Ok?"

       I mentally scolded myself for loosing the word "Kidnap" from my mouth. Words like "Kidnap" or "Abduct" are banned in my family. I know you'll wonder why she is so sensitive on these words. It is because she was kidnapped when she was young.

      As she was a social butterfly and youngest daughter of Lawson family who are still the kings of hotel chains, she became an easy target. Out of all bad things, that was exactly how she met with Dad since he was a special agent at that time.
  
      Speaking of Mom, I still had to find Chole aka her newfound candy.

     
30 minutes later

       She was nowhere to be found.  Truth to be told I still hadn't found her. It's not my fault that people wanted to have a chat with me. It would be rude of me not to greet in return. I caught a glimpse of my Mom's sullen glare and then I knew that was the final warning.

      "Excuse me. I have got some emergency things to do. Hope you will understand me." I excused myself from the crowd in order to find that Brunette.

       First I went near to the ladies. Next I went out all the lanes outside the hall including the verandas.

    "Since the ball is held in the company building, there isn't much to go," I thought. "Damn woman! You are wasting my time."
   " Wait. There is a small garden in the back of the building. Hopefully she'll be there." I got an idea and went there to find here.

      I heard laughter from the garden. I took a step onto the patio quietly and looked to the source where the voices came. Then I saw a glimpse of figures on the bench sitting with their backs facing me. The first thing I saw was the brunette coloured hair flowing in the back screaming Chole.

       My mom was worried sick for her and all she did was "Ha Ha Hee Hee Hoo Hoo" with a random guy.

      "Since the guy attended this ceremony, he must own at least million cost company. What a golddigger," I thought bitterly.

       Then I heard the voice
  
     "Did you come here alone?" I clenched my jaw and ground my teeth as I recognised the owner of that voice. Maybe it wasn't any random guy.

      "I mean are you on a date or sth?"

        I could sense the hesitation and denial on the word date. Thanks Lord. I had found the perfect tool for the revenge on f**king Bastard.

         To hurt his feelings, I did the best thing I could.

             I voiced out.

         "She is with me."

This chapter came out later than expected cos I was on vacation. BTW, I have regained readers for my mysteriously lost two Chapters (3&4)-it's not 700 readers. Thanks for your re reads and votes.
