Frank's POV

Piper approached me with careful footsteps, "You alright, Frank?"

Her voice was filled with sympathy but I could tell she was trying to lure me into a fake sense of protection. I couldn't let her do that, however. I couldn't let my guard down and fail Rome.

"I am," I pretended to fall for her plan, "But I don't think Annabeth is. Did you see her eyes?"

Piper shook her head, a frown on her lips. Her hand holding her sword was slack, meaning she wasn't prepared if I were to attack.

"They were red."

I charged at the daughter of Aphrodite, slamming my bow into her chest and knocking her back. Wide eyed, she attempted to defend herself, and to my chagrin, it worked.

She swung back at me, her eyes swirling with shades of blue, gold and orange. It reminded me of the eilidons, creatures I did not want to remember.

I parried her blow with speed, quickly sending a kick in her direction. She fell to the ground before rolling back onto her feet. Blood stained her t-shirt from the uneven surface of the arena and I forced myself not to lose it like Annabeth had.

A sense of power filled me and I swiftly went on to retaliate to Piper's unending series of slashes, swinging my bow at her legs and causing her to fall to the ground. I went to place a blow at her temples to knock her out, but her voice stopped me.

"Frank, stop," her voice pleaded. The charmspeak lacing her words infuriated me, leaving me unable to move.

I guess Piper was simply doing what she did best: magic. She couldn't conjure a rabbit out of a hat, but she could still beat me up. A fact that was possibly more daunting was that I couldn't do a thing about it.

Casually, she rolled out from under my frozen form. A sword in hand, she looked more menacing than my grandmother – which is actually saying something.

"Frank," she said sweetly, "Knock yourself out."

Unwillingly, my held my bow up above my head. But before I did it, before I lost my place in the competition, I looked at the Piper.

I had to try.

"Please, Piper, just save Annabeth," were my last words as the bow swung towards my skull. A sickening crunch made my stomach churn as I fell to the ground in agony.

A dark sea overwhelmed my consciousness and charcoal clouds filled my vision, surrendering me to the darkness.

A/N:
So, hi. I hope you guys are lovin' the drama and action!
Basically, I didn't want to stick an A/N here because we're in the middle of a big fight, but I just need to cover some, like, Admin-y stuff.
Yeah, so basically my Wattpad e-Mail has unverified itself – if that is even possible. So if anyone wants to contact me *coughs* Dragongirl216 *coughs* I'm really sorry that I can't reply and I am trying to fix it.
