UNTOUCHABLE
Preface

Nicholas Jerry Jonas rejoiced as he heaved up the last bit of breath in him to blow out his five candles. His lips tugged up toward his rosy cheeks with the big gap in the middle of his teeth. He had lost his two front teeth a week ago, and he treasured the brutal battle he fought close to his heart, jumping at each moment to share the adventure. His brown, curly locks swayed back and forth with the September breeze, his eyes gleaming with the golden hue of the autumn sun. He grinned as the large crowd of his friends, all twenty from his neighborhood, clapped for him, their eyes glistening with the desire for the triple chocolate cake in front of them.
However, there was one kid who did not show up to Nicholas' birthday party.
Nicholas devoured the cake in front of him, chewing with his mouth open like a savage. He had just finished telling his adventure to one of his friends who had long golden sun-kissed hair. Naomi stared back at him with wide eyes, biting into her lower lip, terrified of losing her two front teeth.
"You're so brave, Nicky. I could have never done that," She said, shaking her head as she looked down at her cake. She gulped down the big lump in her throat and choked out, "D, did it hurt a lot?"
The corners of Nicholas' lips curled up into a small devious smirk, tainting the innocent face he wore. He said cockily, holding out a dollar out from his pocket, "Nope. I was so brave that the tooth fairy even gave me this," He clicked his tongue on the roof of his mouth, basking in his glory.
He allowed Naomi to examine his prized possession, satisfied with her awestricken reaction. Girls were so easy to please, Nicholas thought.
It was hard to fathom he was only five years old; he was so different from the other boys in his age group who believed girls had cooties and all sorts of diseases...
As Naomi smiled cheekily, handing back the dollar to Nicholas, "Wow, I hope the tooth fairy comes to my house when I lose my two front teeth,"
Nicholas scoffed, "Maybe if you're brave enough-"
He stopped at midsentence, his two mocha orbs fixed on his neighboring house. He swore he saw someone standing behind the wooden fence, two icy orbs piercing him through his exterior and into his soul...
