Chapter One
2010
Springdale, Utah
Nicholas parked his car in the driveway and walked around to the other side, opening up the door for his girlfriend, Naomi. He skillfully snaked his arms around the petite circumference of her waist and pulled her in so their bodies were pushing against one another. Some days, he broke Naomi's heart but sometimes he mended it and showered with love; it all depended on his mood.
And today, he felt like showering her with his love as he leaned in, his hot breath clashing against the nape of her neck. He planted soft kisses on her neck, sending shivers down her spine. As Naomi moaned softly, he traveled up to her jaw line and then collided his soft lips with hers. Their lips danced together as Nicholas devoured hers, his hands resting on her ass. Naomi pulled away, her breathing heavy, "Baby, I need to go." However, she continued to kiss him as if gravity wouldn't let them part, addicted to his sweet, lustful kisses. Nick groaned, pushing Naomi against the hood of his car as he hovered over her, "Baby, don't leave. I need you." His hands slowly slipped behind her shirt as he began to lift it up, her black laced bra almost visible.
Naomi jumped, pulling away from Nick, "Not today."
Nicholas groaned, annoyed, "Why the hell not?"
"Nicholas, I don't want to fight again over something stupid," She hissed, folding her arms across her chest.
"Fine! Then, get the hell off of my property." Nick shouted, turning his heel as he tousled his brown, curly hair, frustrated.
"Nicholas! This is not that serious! Why are you always getting mad-"
"Get the hell off, Naomi!" He roared, the fire raging in his eyes.
Naomi's pale blue eyes began to flood with water as tears scorched down her face once more; third time this week. "I'll see you tomorrow," She mumbled softly, mopping her tears with her sleeve as she walked away to her house across the street.
Nicholas sighed, angry at himself; he blamed his parents' separation for the monster he had become. As the memory of his dear mother abandoning the house replayed in his memory just like a movie, hot tears surged down his face.

Nicholas dashed toward his house from the bus stop, eager to see his two parents and tell them about the first day of 2nd grade. Just like always, he was always keen on sharing his adventures with everyone. As he reached his house, the delicious aroma of chocolate chip cookies didn't fill his lungs. As he reached his house, the sound of his mother singing to an old ABBA song didn't chime in his ears, but rather shouting and cursing. Warily, Nicholas entered through the doors, calling out his mother, "Momma? Why are you screaming? Hello?" He cried out toward the stairs, shrugging off his backpack on the floors.
A few minutes later, he saw his mother trudging down the stairs with her luggage, her make-up all smudged. Her eyes widened, "Nicholas, what are you doing here?" She asked, surprised as she wiped off her tears.
"Momma, where are you going?" Nicholas inquired, hurt to see his own mother shed tears.
She licked her dry lips and tucked a lock of her hair back, stroking Nick's cheek. "On vacation." She said, swallowing a big lump in her throat as she kissed Nick on the cheek. "I'll be back soon, sweetheart."
She never came back from vacation.

Nicholas felt his heart rip once more and slid down against his car, sitting down on the driveway, limp. He wiped his tears quickly, not wanting to show his vulnerable side to anyone, but froze in place once he heard someone sniffling.
