Ella had finished crying and now we were just sitting on the floor still in each other's embrace. We had been like this for twenty minutes now. A comfortable silence filled the air, finally I decided to speak up and break the silence. "Come on love, let's get you something to eat" I stood up, my arm out for her assistance. Ella slowly looked up at me, her chocolate brown eyes glimmering slightly, still damp from tears. I gave her a soft smile then she stood. Grabbing my extended hand, pulling herself up. She let out a small sniffle mixed with a giggle when I pulled her into my arm fully. My hand was clasped tightly around hers as we walked into my kitchen.
I opened the freezer to see what kind of food I could cook for us. "Are you ok if I cook frozen pizza?" I turned to look at her to which she nodded in response. I pulled out the box, setting it on the counter and pre heating the oven, unwrapping the frozen pizza and putting it on a baking pan. I looked back at Ella to see her running her finger over the counter making shapes. "You ok?" I asked softly, taking her back a bit. "Why are you so nice?" The blonde looked up at me for an answer. "I don't know?" "We only met today and yet I feel like I've known you my entire life. Why is that?" I stared at her thinking of why I felt the same way. I didn't know what to say or how to say it. She opened her mouth once more. "I'm not crazy for thinking that... am I?" "N-no!" I stuttered. "I feel the same way honestly." I gave her a smile to which she responded with a laugh. "Oh good! I thought I was crazy for a second!" Ella giggled. "Nah, but if you were crazy I'd be right by your side, and then we could go crazy together!" I laughed. Another series of giggles filled the kitchen, and with those giggles I started to feel so much more like myself.

We sat at the counter and started eating the pizza, laughing and joking around like siblings would, talking like a married couple and playfully punching each other like best friends. My walls had come down... not all the way because I'm not about to jump the gun like that but I let them down a little, and let me tell ya, opening up a bit feels so nice. We weren't talking about anything deep or personal or anything else like that but just letting my guard down enough to talk to her is a huge accomplishment that I'm glad I was finally able to reach.

"So me being the little sister that I am, I would go watch my brother and his friends play video games! I became obsessed with them! I loved watching the strategy that came with shooter games and art styles that were so diverse in all of the video games! But anyway because I was little, my parents didn't really like me watching Dennis play video games I would always say something like 'Denny said I could watch' basically blaming him for me watching video games!" Ella was currently telling a childhood story about her older brother and how she found her love for video games. I smiled and laughed as she told the story, she made the funniest faces and used big hand gestures and adorably, hilarious voices! It made me laugh, then every time I laughed she'd pause and ask what was so funny when I would respond she'd get 'mad' and when she was mad it was the cutest thing. Ella isn't intentionally trying to be cute but that's just how she is!
After many childhood stories from the both of us we got on the topic of family. Which was tough for the both of us to swallow. "So how many siblings do you have again?" I asked out of curiosity. "One biological brother named Dennis and then my step sister Hilary.." Ella spoke softly. "What about you?" She quickly asked. "Only child." I responded with an awkward laugh. "Then how did you end up so kind?! All the only children I've met are all kinda snobby!" Ella exclaimed. "Haha I dunno I guess I was just raised right."
Ella nodded agreement, taking a bite of pizza and smiling wide.

After the pizza was gone and we were full, video games sounded epic! Setting up Call of Duty, my parents walked through the front door, with confusion and happiness written on their faces.

'Well frick.'
