His footsteps shattered the silence, his heart sounding like a freight train. The buzzing of a security camera could easily be heard just around the corner. This was the first time that Daniel had ever attempted to break into a bank. The van he had hired was parked a block down the road and the street lights had just been turned off. He took quick and lengthy strides down the road. As he turned the corner he pulled down his balaclava and walked out in front of the camera. It swivelled around towards him but he walked out of its view in moments. He was relieved after he had got into the main compound he wouldn't have to worry about being spotted.
Daniel approached a wire fence that could be heard crackling with the sound of hundreds of thousands of volts racing through it. He pulled out a steel wire and unsheathed the hooks. He hurriedly positioned it in front of the fence and with a swift movement threw it onto one of the rings in the fence. The other end of the wire hit the ground with a quiet snap. The electricity could then be heard flowing through the wire into the ground. Daniel was now able to cut the fence past that with his fence shears. He approached the uncharged fence and took out the shears. He stopped and listened for anyone in the area, he may have been heard. He waited until he was sure there was no one around and started to cut through the fence. Daniel spent around two minutes cutting the fence rings trying to make as little noise as possible. Once the fence was opened he put the shears back in his bag and stepped through the hole.
Daniel pulled out a map from his back pocket, it was a building plan of the bank. He had already marked on his route, he was to hit the security office then proceed to the main vault underground. He stared at it for a couple of seconds in an attempt to memorise the route. He placed it back in his pocket and started walking cautiously and quietly towards the office.
There was a vibrant glow from the ceiling lights inside the building he needed to access. The stairs up to it were made from stainless steel and would make a lot of noise if he were to attempt climbing it. He crouched to the ground and took his backpack off. Inside was a variety of items he had used multiple times in the past to execute successful robberies. He took out a tightly bundled rope ladder and a grappling gun. He loaded the end of the ladder into the weapon and put his backpack back on. He lifted the grapple to aim at the ledge of the roof, he slowed his breathing to a halt and pulled the trigger. The hook at the end shot out with a sudden whirring that continued as it flew through the air and hooked onto the edge of the offices. He hurried towards it as quietly as he could whilst strapping the gun to his back. He approached the new ladder and tested how solid it was, he tugged on it twice and it stayed where it was. He positioned his left foot on the first rung slowly so as to not make any noise. He started to shift his weight onto that foot and it started to creak. He lifted his arm and held onto the ladder higher up with his right hand. The ladder swayed slightly but eventually came to a standstill. He proceeded to climb the ladder slowly but efficiently taking him step by step to the roof. Eventually he reached the roof and with an internal sigh of relief he began to reel in the ladder and hook. It packed into a small area and he put it back into his bag. Just as the plans he had studied before hand had said there was a hatch on the roof of the building that allowed him to access the corridors below. He knelt down to it and undid the latch. It swung up and open with relative silence.
