"Yeah um, what the hell was that?" Marco exclaimed, joining Star's side, his fingers twitching with the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

"What things?" Star said calmly, frantically wondering if she could convince Marco he was crazy.

"For once, I'm not up for games, you're obligated to explain this," Marco said matter-of-factly.

Star shouldered her backpack and frowned.

"Obligated?" She asked skeptically, trying to remain calm despite the fear and panic that was coursing through her.

"Well, I can't exactly go on with my life without knowing what the hell I just saw, I'll live in turmoil, mentally traumatized, you wouldn't do that to a person would you?" Marco attempted puppy eyes but he was too anxious for answers to care much about presentation.

"Eh," Star shrugged, heading back in the direction of the park and hoping against hope that somehow Marco would let it go and forget about everything that had happened that day.

"Come on Star...I'll...I'll tell everyone your secret about Mewni!" Marco attempted desperately. "Wait are those things from Mewni? Is Mewni actually real? Holy shit are you an actual princess?" Marco began to ramble, the pieces fitting together in his mind.

Star sighed.

"Fine I'll answer your question...under one condition," Star spun on her heel and stared firmly at Marco, the sun shining through the trees made her appear glowing and unreal, like a holograph or dream.

Marco waited for her condition expectedly while he cracked his knuckled in impatience.

"You can't tell anyone. If another living soul were to discover Mewni, it could wreak havoc on my people ok?" Star muttered, waiting for Marco's response as she already regretted consenting.

"How would it-"

"Do you promise?" Star cut Marco off.

Marco shrugged as if it being some major secret to Star was an unimportant matter, "yeah sure."

Star rolled her eyes and plopped down where she stood, sliding her backpack off once more to get comfortable.

"What are you doing?" Marco asked, raising an eyebrow incredulously.

"What did you expect, to talk about this over some ice cream? Maybe we should just go to the park and talk about it while there's a ton of people around?" Star said sarcastically, contempt lingering briefly on her words.

Marco shrugged again and sat across from her, too eager for her to answer him to care about her insults.

With one last sigh Star began, "those things were monsters, and yes they were from Mewni but they aren't...my people, Mewmans are like humans but we live in another dimension with magical powers and mystical beings, talking animals, giants, dragons, you know, that sort of thing."

Taking a quick breath she continued, "they were after my wand-"

"Now how does that thing work ex-" Marco began, but it wasn't long before Star cut him off.

"Hey I know you're super eager and all to learn about my world, but seriously, one question at a time...and actually," Star checked her watch.

"My foster family expected me home 10 minutes ago so I really should be on my way," getting to her feet star brushed off her dress decisively and reached for her backpack.

"You hardly explained anything!" Marco retorted, hastily getting to his feet as well.

"Well, I'm way past after-school curfew, I'm exhausted for obvious reasons and I'm not exactly very happy with you after you stole my journal, followed me against my will in here and now are harassing me with questions, but since I don't fully trust you with my secret and I have a feeling you'll tell someone out of contempt for me not telling you more, I'll give you a few extra facts. Yeah, I am a princess, I came here to learn how to conceal my magic, and I think you're an intolerable asshole, excuse me I meant to say my wand is a magical family heirloom so don't mess with it," Star said quickly.

"Come on you have to tell me more than that! Call your foster parents and tell them you're going to study with some friends," Marco suggested, his usual "macho" overcome by curiosity.

"You know Marco, how would you feel if I constantly berated you for answers about your personal life? I'll tell you more about Mewni later, and if I wasn't mentally and physically fatigued, I would maybe have that conversation with you now, but when that time does come don't expect me not to ask you some questions too," Star said.

Marco sighed, his eagerness had begun to ebb away.

"Alright fine, calm down princ-...Star, but don't expect me to wait forever," Marco picked her backpack up for her and handed it to her.

Star had just noticed the scrapes along his face and arms and his messy hair from the fight with Ludo.

With a deep breath, Star gave a small smile of appreciation, grabbed her backpack from his hands and headed home.
