You hear stories of the perfect romance everyday. High school sweet hearts and unbelievable love stories. Mine was different. Any new freshman with the mindset of a junior is noticed. I, being who i am, have always been told and complemented on the amount of maturity and respect i have for everyone and myself included. Growing up basically on your own does that to you.
I woke up on time for my first day of high school confidently. I grabbed my schedule and went to first hour. I listened to each teacher drone on and on about their life and their mission to help everyone become a well-rounded adult. I listened to everyone, not that i honestly cared about the entire thing. At the end of the day i was ready to go home. With only and hour and a half left i was excited to get out.
I was stuck in choir, which by the way was full of only girls. Luckily, for me, i found two of my best friends, one of them tapping her foot anxiously. Kaileigh is a very pretty girl with long, thick blond hair that she dyes red on the tips. Her eyes are big and brown and just nearly match mine. Everyone, somehow mistakes us for sisters, although we have barely any form of resemblance. While Kaileigh has a fairly straight figure, mine is curved, which gives me unwanted attention. My hair, that goes all the way down my back, doesnt know what color it wants: brown, blond, or red. My eyes don't either. They choose what they want depending on how i feel on that day. Nicole, a curly blond haired, brown eyed girl, was texting her boyfriend and is oblivious to how obvious it was that she was on her phone. We don't look related but we act like it. Her mom even asked if she could adopt me once. We've been best friends since sixth grade. We go to church together every wednesday and Sunday.
"Emma!!" Kaileigh yells at me from the accross the room
She hugs me and Nicole jumps up to do the same. Kaileigh starts talking about her boyfriend, Luke, who was basically my brother, who she got in a fight with at lunch. They fight a lot and still are the cutest couple on campus. I smile sypathetically at her because theres nothing I can honestly do to help but listen.
"How are you and Daniel?" Nicole asks me.
I smile at her, "We're okay, its only our first week."
"For the umm...7th time. Do you think it will last this time?" Kaileigh adds.
My smile loosens, "I hope so. But knowing us it barely works out for even a month."
"Maybe it will this time! Y'all do go to the same school now. It was only hard in the beginning because you were still in middle school!" She says encouragingly.
"Yea I guess." I mumble.
Mr. Olsen stands up and hushes us as much as he can. His speech is started and I zone out, pretending to listen. Daniel and I are doing well but I can't help but think how Kaileigh had said it wasn't the first time. If we hadn't broke up the first time we would be going on two years. But I could never stand him long enough to be with him longer than two months.
Hi guys! I just started telling this story because i believe that i need to tell it. I have changed everyones name except a few to keep privacy. Thank you for reading so far. I know its a bit boring but it will get better (:
