I am the last one to step off the bus, I turn to the bus driver and wave goodbye. Every one on the bus scares me. They aren't very friendly to put it nicely. I step through the gate and refasten the rope, we don't have enough money for a chain at the least. I don't help but notice my mum is still not home. I'm not surprised to find that she left all her chores for me yet again. She is on her last year in college so I generally don't complain when she does this.
I take off my skinny jeans and replace them with Nike shorts and replace my converse with my old boots. My grandma promised me new boots for my birthday, which is in four months. I cant wait because these boots are stained with mud and let water in through holes on the sides. I put my now wavy hair into a ponytail and walk into the hot, Louisiana weather. Its only 98 degrees and it has been worse but its still is hot.
I am greeted by our new pony. My great grandma named her Normagene after my great aunt. I don't think it fits her. What I have heard of Normagene she wasn't too cheerful. This horse never stops moving. She follows me every where and she liked me before everyone else. The watches me from the entrance of the barn while I mix the horse feed. I laugh and continue.
After an hour of feeding horses, dogs, and rabbits, I walk into my house and lay down on the couch. I slowly drift into sleep and right before I finally fall into the arms of sleep, I hear the door open and I open my eyes to my mum walking in. She looks a lot like me. Shes short, with wavy, brown hair. Except instead of my bipolar green and brown eyes, hers are blue and green. When she was younger she was incredibly pretty. The difference between her then and me now is she wasn't as curvy as I am. We both are as stubborn as anyone could ever be. She is more impatient than I am.
"Hey, Where were you?" I ask.
She brushes her hair back, "I was looking for a job again. I think I will be working at Sciport until I graduate and get a real job." Sciport used to be my favorite place to go. It was full of these scientific exhibits. I had eventually moved on. It wasn't really the place you hang out at with friends. "Did you feed?" she asks?
"Yeah. By the way can I please go over to Kaileigh's this weekend? Please?" I ask hopefully.
"Well, what are you going to do for me?" In my head, I feel like rolling my eyes so bad but I know that wont help.
"I'll clean the kitchen?" I ask.
"Okay I guess." She says as she turns to walk into her room. "You'll have to find your own ride home."
I text Kaileigh telling her I can come. I haven't texted Daniel yet today either. He hasn't bothered either. Kaileigh replies within five minutes telling me how excited she was. I throw my phone onto my bed when I walk into my room. I look at my alarm clock and groan. It was nine and I still hadnt started homework.
I finish by eleven and pack my bag for soccer conditioning. After making a sandwich, i fall onto my bed and lose myself in the camo bed sheets.
