I practically ran up the familiar path, I looked up at Tom's bedroom to see his bedroom curtains still shut, typical. Hopefully his Mum or Dad would be in so I didn't have to throw stones at his window again to wake him up, I couldn't control my excitement any longer.

"Only me" I poked my head round the front door, thankful to find it open.

"You alright Mads?" Mark shouted from the front room, not bothering to greet me, me and Tom practically lived at each others houses.

"Is Tom in?" I asked enthusiastically, kicking my converse off ready to run upstairs.

"I couldn't tell you love, Tracy is our Tom in?" he shouted into the conservatory that came off of the living room. I fidgeted like a exciteable toddler, clutching the piece of paper in my hand. Before she could answer she was walking to greet me.

"Maddie! How's it gone?" She smiled warmly, giving me one of her nurturing hugs.

"I pinkie promised Tom that he'd be the first to know" I said apologetically, heck even my own Mum didn't know yet.

"Right I'll ring your mum to come round for a cuppa, you go up and tell Tom" she said pushing me up the stairs.

"Is he alone?" I said, hoping she'd understand what I was hinting at.

"Yeah he's alone, the Take That tribute band is doing nothing for his street cred" Tracy said, making a gun sign to try and act cool, she was such a funny woman.

"What time did he get in?" I asked, I knew there must be a good reason for him not being able to come with me this morning.

"Late, they were performing for a Hen night and apparently they wouldn't let them go, just kept demanding encores" She laughed to herself as she went into the kitchen to get the cups of tea ready. I giggled to myself as I sprinted up the stairs, knocking on Tom's bedroom door to make sure he was dressed. After no answer I opened the door a tiny bit to see if he was still asleep, true to my expectations he was, that boy could sleep through another world war. I couldn't even see his face, just his brown spiky hair poking out from under his duvet.

"Tom" I said gently, shaking his bare shoulder. No response.

"Parker" I said loudly, standing with my hands on my hips, annoyed at not being able to wake him after several attempts.

"Maddie...results day...tired" he muttered, still half asleep.

"Thomas" I said sternly, he knew it was serious when I used his full name.

"Oh shit" Tom sat up suddenly, running his hands through his bed head hair.

"Okay I cant wait any longer, Tom I'm going to fucking univeristy!" I screamed, jumping up and down.

"Oh my god Mads, I knew you'd do it" he said jumping out of bed, lifting me up and spinning me round, I wrapped my legs around his waist instinctivly, scared he'd drop me due to his hyper behaviour.

"You got in then?" Tracy squealed, as she an into the room, making it quite clear she'd been listening in on our conversation, I didn't mind in the slightest though.

"Mum dont you ever knock?" Tom scowled, he could be such a grump in the morning, but just recently he'd been really down, in a way I felt guilty for being so happy about my results, because Tom was so lost in life, he didn't know what to do.

"I have every right to be happy for Maddie as you do Thomas, and besides if you've got nothing to hide you wont mind me being here" she winked as she left the room. I let my legs fall down from Tom's body as he loosened his grip on me at the same time.

"Something going on?" I asked confused, repeating Tracys words. I took a step back from him for some reason, I dont know why. I'd known Tom since we were babies, our mums had more or less forced us to be bestfriends, they were inserperable so therefore me and Tom had no choice.

"She reckons were more than bestfriends now that were mature adults" Tom scoffed, nearing on a Tom tantrum.

"Well, thats awkward...cause were hardly mature are we" I laughed trying to ease the situation. Throughout all of our school years we'd had to put up with stupid rumours and idle gossip, even when Tom had one of his many girlfriends people would still say we were together or something like that. To make it worse Tom had such a short temper, so he always got over protective which usually resulted in him getting into a scrap with some boys from school.

"Well I am" Tom smiled smugly, flopping down onto the heap on his bed. His duvet hadn't got a cover on and he was almost lost in the piles of clothes he'd just left on his bed.

"Pfft" I laughed, we were both as immature as each other, I joined him on the bed, re-reading my results, I couldn't believe how well I'd done, Tom had been a bad influence during revision time for the exams, as he insisted on partying and getting drunk. I couldn't blame him though, I'd hardly took much persuading.

"No offense Tom but your bed smells of really bad perfume" I sniffed, it went straight onto my chest which with asthma, isn't very good.

"Atleast one of us is getting some action" Tom teased me, elbowing me to make sure I knew he was only joking. Me and Tom never argued but if we did have disagreements it would be about all the women he sleeps with. I'd try to warn him about the types of girls he goes for but he'd insist that he couldn't have feelings for them types of girls, I sometimes wondered if he had ever has his heartbroken. He'd never had a serious girlfriend and he had cheated on many of them, so it seemed doubtful. But if its one thing he wouldn't tell me, it would be about if he'd ever been in love. I on the other hand, was eighteen and still hadn't had my first kiss. Sad I know, Tom was the only one who knew this, and he'd often tease me about it, we were complete opposites but it worked.

"Seriously though Maddie, well done" he added, turning to ruffle my hair.

"I'm gonna miss you though" I said sadly, I'd chose to move to London because it was the best University for my degree in fashion.

"Dont worry about that, I wont be far away" he winked, I knew that face he had something up his sleep.

"Maddie come downstairs babe!" I heard my Mum shouting, she'd be dying to know my results so I had to leave my interrogation of Tom for later.
