Unfortunately the word, ritual, has a connotation of sacrificing children and mutilating cattle, especially when Satanism is concerned. However performing a ritual in Laveyan Satanism can be as simple as brewing a cup of tea and scrolling through Tumblr for three hours.

From what I've read from the Church of Satan website, The Satanic Bible, and The Satanic Witch, a Satanic ritual, according to Lavey, is merely time spent alone in which you spend reflecting on yourself or doing an activity that makes you happy. Rituals can sometimes be performed with others, but they are generally done alone. Since Anton Lavey's brand of Satanism is about worshipping yourself, it only makes sense that rituals would include things that bring contentment to you and only you.

Some people may argue that cattle mutilation brings happiness to some people, and therefore it can be considered a Satanic ritual; however, The Church of Satan neither condones nor encourages participation in unlawful activities because the fundamental rule of the philosophy, that what people do unto others is what they deserve being done to them, works both ways. For example, if a Satanist were to kill someone, he or she would deserve to be put to death as well, according to Satanism's rules. Satanism also explicitly states that no one is to harm animals or small children.
