The two were outside in the Curtis's yard playing volleyball.

"Johnnycake!" yelled Ponyboy.

"Mine!" Johnny called and jumped. He bumped it to him and nearly fell. Ponyboy screamed out of a small fear and caught the ball instead of hitting it back.

"C'mon Pone," Johnny smiled sheepishly and cleared up from the near trip, pressing his fists together. "hit it baby."

The younger giggled. "Alright baby," he then tossed the ball, getting Johnny's attention to sprint over.

"Y-ah!" yelled the older boy as he spiked the volleyball across.

"Mine!" Ponyboy called and bumped.

"Nice job!" Johnny exclaimed and bumped it back.

"T-thanks!" Ponyboy yelled and bumped it... over the fence.

Both boys gasped at what just disappeared in front of their eyes.

After a suspenseful silence, Johnny turned to Ponyboy and gave him a smirky look. "Mine!" He called loudly and ran to the younger boy, engulfing him entirely in a hug.

Ponyboy squeaked and hugged back, giggling in surprise. "I'm glad you caught me Johnnycake," said the youngest. "I'm yours."
