Meeting The Revolution was quite the surprise for Joey. He basically clung to Wendy and Lisa the entire night. I just hung around the rest of the band and my dad while they talked about the grungy places they played in their younger days and how far they all came. What was even more surprising was that uncle Dez ended up leaving the group because of a falling out he and my dad had. That story was so not meant for my ears so I quietly excused myself and headed down to the lobby to find some snacks. It was nice I got to roam the hotel freely and not be noticed. Pulling my buzzing cell phone from my pocket I was glad to see a familiar name pop up on the screen.
"Well it's about time!" I giggled as I flipped the phone open and put it to my ear.
"Well hello handsome! What took you so long?" I answered as I called myself being flirty.
"Carly? Why do you sound like one of those sleezy girls from the 1-800-we-are18 commercials?" Tre asked with a grin that be heard through the receiver.
I was soon hit with the confirmation that he was right when the concierge had a strange look of 'please stop' blanketed his Alfred Hitchcock looking face.
"Sorry. But I really did miss you! I guess I was trying too hard. Anyways how's it going at home?"
"It's going ok. I ended up leaving basketball camp a little sooner than I wanted." I heard him say sadly.
"What? Why?"
"Some kid tried to knock the rebound shot out of my hand and instead of hitting the ball...... he hit my hand. I fractured my pointer finger in three places."
I wanted so badly to just get on the first thing smoking and fly home to take care of him and run my hand through those deep dark waves of his but I knew that if I tried to just up and leave my dad would pitch a huge fit and ground me until I die so my best bet at this point t was to just stay calm and stay put.
"Awwww I'm so sorry! I wish I could come home and see you now but.....you know how my dad is. Mr. Tavel nazi himself is always dictating where I can go on this tour."
"You know he's only doing it because he worries about you. He's even more concerned now after that crazy lady kidnapped you."
The thought of my crazy biological mama and her slime ball creep of a.....boyfriend taking me away over Christmas break made my skin crawl all over again . Gross. However I can understand why my dad is the way he is now so in Tre's defense I can't be too mad. I just let out a deep sigh and smiled.
"Yeah I know. Still....it would be nice to have some type of freedom. At least for a little while. I hate that we have to have these stupid supervised dates. Tony can't even supervise his Big Mac so why is he supervising us?" I snapped.
Tre let out a light chuckle and agreed.
"That may be true but it will all be over. Just two more years of high school right?"
"Yeah. Two more years of high school and eternity of being locked in my room with a bunch of storybooks and ponies. My dad doesn't want me to grow up. He wants me to stay 16 forever but live like a three year old."
"No he doesn't. Just.....give him time. He'll come around."
I was starting to get a little frustrated with all of this talk of my lack of freedom and I can tell that I was about to let my innocent and open minded boyfriend have it but a quick found to three in my mind was just enough to notice the creepy Alfred Hitchcock look alike staring at me. Almost like he wanted to kill me off in his next movie. I couldn't take my eyes off of him and he couldn't take his eyes off me. This was really starting to get awkward.
"Hello? Carly? Helloooooo? You still there?" I slowly began to hear Tre say in the phone.
"Huh? Oh! Sorry! Something weird just caught me off guard. What did you say?" I replied stunned.
"I said just sleep it off and I'll call you tomorrow. Just by how your spacing out you definitely need your rest." Tre giggled.
"Oh! Ok! Yeah! Call me tomorrow! I'll be more alive I MEAN awake by then." I said nervously.
"You sound like you saw a ghost. You sure you're alright?"
"Yeah peachy! I gotta go. Bye!"
I closed the top on my phone as the creepy old Halloween man kept staring me down.
"Is there something I can do for you miss?" The man asked as he wiped the bar down in a rather adorable British accent.
I looked around me to see if he was talking to someone else but the more I looked the more I came to realize that it was just me standing in the lobby. I raised a single finger and pointed it at myself while both eyebrows were lifted to the sky in question.
"You don't have to be afraid love. However I'm kinda surprised that Prince's little girl is wondering the hotel lobby this late at night."
"You know that's a violation to say that out loud. My dad could get this whole place reemployed because of your slip up." I sassed.
"Oh calm down love it's alright! The hotel was shut down just for you lot! Not a single public soul is around." He said with a smile tossing the towel over his shoulder.
The man sat an empty crystal glass on the table and filled it with ice then grabbed a can of Canada Dry and sat it beside the glass.
"Here ya go! On the house! Why don't you come have a seat and sit a spell. As you can see I don't bite. We Brit's are a friendly lot. There's nothing to fear. I can keep a secret as big as your father being here."
"Sooooooo......you're from England? Like god save the queen England?" I asked as I inched my way closer to the bar.
"You bet your uncle I am! I was born there while my father was stationed over in Germany during the Second World War. My father and mother are Polish but they were trying to get to America. Unfortunately with all the craziness going on in the world they decided to make a pit stop. They fell in love with the green grass and country sides and just....decided to stay!"
By the time I got to the bar and sat down this guy.....this really nice but creepy looking guy from the old world was telling me all about his upbringing across the pond. I didn't know why but.....I was in stuck in his world and couldn't leave. I wouldn't leave. After hours of stories and at least 12 cans of ginger ale later I woke up back in my hotel room in bed next to Joey.
"It was.....a dream?" I asked myself as I looked up at the ceiling.
"No your weren't dreaming my love. You were gone for a while and I was worried about you." Daddy said as he stood in the doorway.
"How did I get back here?" I asked as I found daddy standing in the doorway in his royal purple silk pjs.
"You were talking to the bartender then asked him if you could lay down on the lobby sofa. He said yes then called to the room to have you picked up."
"Let me guess you sent Uncle Dre right?"
"No." He chuckled.
I sat up as I looked at the smile on my dads face. He came down himself and carried me all the way back to the top floor alone.
"You didn't have to-" I started before he shook his head.
"I always wanted to know what it was like to carry my sleeping little girl back to bed when she knows not to wonder off."
My dad smiled even bigger and his eyes started lighting up at the memory of him carrying me in his arms. He came in the room and kissed my forehead.
"I'm gonna go and get some sleep. See you at breakfast." He said.
"Daddy it's already 10am." I giggled.
He looked back at me as he was leaving out of the room with a smile.
"Anytime is breakfast time my dove."
With that he went across the hall in his room and closed the door. The ora of awesomeness that is my dad.
