I shrieked with laughter as LJ swung me up onto his back, my arms wrapping tight around his neck as he gripped the bottoms of my thighs. We'd just come off of one of the flume rides, and everyone but Kam was soaking wet, as she'd somehow managed to get through the whole ride without getting a single drop of water on her.
My black hair hung in soaked strands down my back and in my face. I yanked it all over one shoulder, hitting LJ with it.
"Hey. Hey!" he laughed, moving his head away from me. "That's cold! Keep your hair to yourself."
"Who cowered behind me in the log?" I asked, pulling my sunglasses off the top of my head and balancing them on my nose. He blew a raspberry into my upper arm, causing me to shriek.
"Where to next?" Kam asked, carefully unfolding a slightly soggy map of Magic Kingdom. Finn returned from the locker and passed out our respective bags.
"Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!" Asher exclaimed, punching his fist in the air. "It's right there! Come on, let's go on a roller coaster!"
"We'll all freeze," Finn protested. "We're soaked through. Maybe we should get something to eat first, dry off a bit in the sun before we try any rides at high speeds."
"Look, there's a cafe right over here," Kam said, pointing vaguely to the right of where I believed us to be. Asher pouted, but agreed to go sit down and eat for a little bit before we continued on the rides.
In hindsight, it probably would have made more sense to go on all the water rides last, so that we could just head straight back to the hotel after. But trying to sway Asher from an idea when he'd really, truly set his mind to something was kind of like trying to take food from a rabid dog.
The boys went to order the food while Kam and I found a table outside, directly in the sun. Most people were trying to move to the shade, as it was almost ninety degrees outside, but being soaked through tended to send you in the other direction.
"Hey."
It was a group of boys, not much older than us; maybe college age, but most likely high school seniors on spring break, just like us. I shifted slightly closer to Kam.
"Can we help you?" She asked, flipping her cherry-red hair over her shoulder. Three of the boys followed the movement, mesmerized, while the fourth kept his eyes firmly placed on me. I shifted even closer to Kam.
"We were just wondering if you girls wanted to join us for a little while," one of them said. "You know: ride some rides, hang out, grab something to eat."
"I don't think so," Kam snorted, looking them up and down with disdain. "I wouldn't dare ruin my reputation by walking with the likes of you."
He scowled. "Your loss, than. What about the cutie pie, here?" he turned his attention to me.
"The cutie pie has a name, and a boyfriend," I said, surprising myself with my bravado. Kam turned to me, stunned.
"Well, I don't see either," the guy chuckled. "So why don't you live a little? Come on, I'm sure your boyfriend's not all that fun anyway." He swiped bleached hair out of his eyes.
LJ showed up then, Finn and Ash in tow. He set two drinks and a tray of food down before sitting down, throwing an arm over my shoulders.
"She's busy," he said, glaring at bleached-hair guy from behind his aviators. "And even if she wasn't, she wouldn't go out with an idiot like you."
"I didn't ask your opinion, dipshit," bleached-hair snarled. He turned to me, his features smoothing out slightly. "Listen, if you ever get bored of this prick, we're staying in the Animal Kingdom lodge. We'd be glad to see you over."
