Jayne's POV
"Well," my mom said, "I do have some breakfast for everyone."
"Awesome! Thank you Mrs. Forester." Ryland said rubbing his tummy, "I'm starved." Rocky punched his shoulder and made a serious face. Everyone got up one at a time to get some food. After we finished eating in silence, (my mom and stormie kept talking though), we each got settled in our seats. I was forced to sit next to Ross by Rydel, of course. Finally he turned over from looking out the window to me. All I could feel was my heart beating out of my chest. He looked down at me and smiled sweetly. Then he began to say something, "Um Jayne...nevermind."
"Ross what's on your mind?" I said a little bewildered.
"Oh it was just that I...I...I mean this situation's pretty crazy don't you think?" He said stuttering a bit.
"Um ya it is. I mean my parents used to tell me I was crazy. And that this is impo-" He cut me off.
"What do you mean? You believe in zombies?"
"Haha no, not the kind your thinking about. I just belive that a human could acquire a certain disease to make them this way. I mean bats carry multiple diseases. Have you ever seen the movie Contagion?"
"Ya of course. The bat drops the banana and the pig eats it. The guy at the restaurant doesn't wash his hands. And that's how the disease is spread. That's a pretty theory. Now look whose right?"
"Haha ya I guess I am, but I still don't know how the disease was contracted. I mean it could have been any virus or something. I don't know. No one knows."
"That's true. So howd you take leaving all your friends?"
"Pretty badly. You?"
"Not really actually."
"Wow really I thought you were like really good friends with like Luke Makintosh and John Freidler?"(popular guys at school)
"Naw there actually all jerks. I couldn't really be myself around them. I had to pretend that I didn't care about school or life. They drank and smoked weed. But I kinda just avoided it. I smoked once, but I didn't like the way it made me feel so I gave the joint back to my friend. Plus that stuff is really bad. So I guess im kinda friendless besides my bros and sister. Haha."
"Well you don't have to pretend around me. And I'll be your friend. I'd say I'm a pretty good one too. Haha."
"Oh haha thanks, but I'm sure you would rather hang out with Rydel rather than me."
"Okay I'll just be Rydel's friend then." I put on my serious face and he just looked at me not knowing how to react. "I'm kidding and you seem like a fun person. Just because I'm friends with your sister that I wouldn't want to hang out with you or anyone else."
"Thanks jayne that's nice of you."
"No prob and trust me when we get to my family's complex we are gonna have so much fun. You're probably gonna forget everything that's happening in the real world." He gave me a warm smile and turned to look out the window again. All I could think about was how to impress him with my surfing skills because I have none. Haha. But I can teach him how to play lax which will be fun. I look at my watch and realize we are only an hour into the flight. So I take the opportunity to take some stress off and sleep. I grab my fuzzy blanket that smell like raspberries and lean back. My eyes get heavy and I give in. Goodnight.
