Chapter 6

Jayne's POV

Ross trotted over with a concerned look on his face. It was honestly a little suspicious. I felt there was something he wasn't telling me.

"What's up? Is everything alright?" He asked.

"Ya I just need to talk to you for a few minutes. Is that alright?" I said.

"Of course! Hey guys I'm gonna go to talk to Jayne for a few minutes." He said looking over his shoulder. All the boys said,

"ooooooooohhhhh Jaynie and Rossy sitting in a tree-" Ross cut them off and said, "Really guys? This isn't 2nd grade. Shut up."

"Really well...well...your no fun Ross!" Ryland said without a proper comeback. All the boys started laughing at him and tackling him. After that sherade we walked over to a more secluded place to talk. I needed to tell him about the dreams I was having. They are reoccurring and the same thing happens each time, but other times I wake up my arm starts to sting where Ross bites me.

"Ross?" I said.

"Ya Jayne? Are you okay?" He said very concerned.

"Well not exactly. You see... I hope this doesn't creep u out so please just listen and then judge. Haha ok. So here's the deal um... Basically lately I have been having dreams about you trying to eat me." I said quickly at the end. He just stared at me with wide eyes and his mouth slightly open with his hand over it.

"Jayne, describe the scene." He said extremely interested. He crossed his arms and gave me a look like this was familiar to him.

"Well it's starts off with me and you lying in bed and we wake up. You open your eyes and there a bright blue, maybe even white. At first I am a little weirded out but I get up and I hear you breath in deeply. I turn around and your staring at me with your wide eyes and then you run over to me and bite me. That's when the dream ends." He just stands there and looks at me. After like an awk 10 seconds he says, "Jayne?"

"Ya?"

"It wasn't a dream..."

"Haha hold up what?"

"That actually happened. Jayne you don't remember because your mind was erased. They were afraid-"

"Who was afraid? What are you even saying? What?"

"Look Jayne I need you to just listen. Look at me....," his eyes were so beautiful I could hardly keep back the urge to lean forward and kiss because then everything would just melt away.

"Ok what I'm about to tell you is extremely confidential. Do you understand?"

"Yes I do." I wasn't sure where this was going but I was really scared.

"Ok two years ago an experiment was enacted upon both of us. It's purpose was for the body to cure itself from being poisoned with the venom of a zombie. That dream happened three weeks after we were sent for testing. They never said why they chose us. The night before I was injected with the virus and that morning in the room I bit you and your skin was impenetrable. My teeth could not get through any part. So the experiment worked."

"Wait but how? What did they inject me with?"

"Oh yeah, sorry. Um they called in the steel pipe. They injected it into your blood stream the night before as well."

"Ok so how are you still human then?"

"Well that the steel pipe wasn't just a defense mechanism. It was a cure. It acted as a virus as well. It infected the virus cells and killed them. Therefore, I became human the day after."

"Where is the cure now?"

"I don't know. Probably still at the lab in London."

"Oh no. So we can't save our families if it spreads?"

"Look Jayne there is a lot you must learn about this. They erased your memory because...because you were going to tell people about this. The deal was that no one was to know about this. Now, I do have enough to cure everyone here, but the issue is that there blood must be a certain type or else there is no hope for them. Unless we protect this island."

"Out of everyone in the whole world, why you and I?"

"Because... Because we were each others destiny's."
