The Library

It all started in an old library.  But this was not just an ordinary library, no, this one was abandoned. It had been abandoned for probably twenty years now, and my friend and I had been meeting there for the past few months secretively at night, sneaking out from our houses and breaking in through the back door of the library. We’ve had much practice doing that, believe it or not.

We searched around to see if we could find anything interesting in the old books, and there wasn't anything until we searched further back. We pulled out thick, dusty books with strange covers on them and spent the better part of the night looking through them, and we were so entranced by them that we didn't notice the time until we were done with them completely. But we didn’t comprehend any of it much, so it was pretty pointless…

They were about ancient rituals basically, done back in the olden times, and other things like that. We both thought it was kind of creepy. After that we both put the books away, but we said we would come back and look at more of them again. Cassandra and I both thought it was strange that a library had those kinds of books.

In the morning, when they met for school, in their first period class they sat together in the back row and they whispered while they worked.

“So what do you think is up with those books?” Cassandra kept her head down at her math book.

Thea did the same and scooted her chair closer to her, and replied, saying, “I don’t know but for some reason I can’t wait to check it out again.”

“Oh, you and your creepiness factor…. I swear, sometimes it’s too much.” Cass shook her head at her and wrote down some math problems, turning the page. They couldn’t talk any longer because their teacher shushed them and they had to continue on their work in silence, but they could talk later for sure.

By the time they next met up, it was lunch time, and Thea was waiting as Cass was getting her lunch in line. “Jeez what is taking her so long…?”

She pulled out her laptop and connected to a nearby internet access, and searched for a title of one of the books they looked through, called “Crystal Immortality Activation”.

Her eyebrows shot up as she read the text on her screen. “To achieve the greatest immortal energy, you have to carve the First Immortal Crystal, a thick, precisely cut crystal, into back of your neck, and it will awaken your first chakra. It will change your power of will; awaken your strength and points of stress. Before you do anything else, you have to connect your heart and your brain in divine intelligence. You must meditate, do deep breathing, and then you will truly have immortality, if you get the focus truly right. A bit of blood sacrifice may be in order. The spinal cord will be in pain as you experience this, and finally you are immortal. Be sure to create a protective circle, in case of if you get interrupted in your ritual.”

This gives you a freaking recipe to make you immortal. What the hell is in this library?!

Cassandra sat down across from her with her lunch tray, at last, and looked over at Thea. “What’s with the look? You look like you’ve seen one of your horror movies.”

“I’m living in one of my horror movies, Cass,” she replied.

“Oh yeah, then let’s hear it.”
