Fredrick took a deep breath before opening the door and getting out. "Stay here. There's a gun in the glovebox if you absolutely need it. Okay?" His violet eyes searched Ennard's face for confirmation that he knows the protect Chew and himself. The silver haired boy nodded, pushing the fading red piece of hair from his eyes. "The safety is on so make sure to only turn it off if you really need to. I'm going to get Bonnie." He smiled softly and shut the door, making sure to lock the doors. He took a deep breath before walking through the door to the hospital, trying to blink away unwanted memories that came still.

"He's not doing to well!" Someone shouted above nine year old Fredrick. It sounded male but he couldn't be sure. He was fading fast. "His ribs are broken!"
"What happened to his attacker?" Another person, this one definitely female, asked.
"He's dead. Apparently this kid managed to shoot him as he was hurting him." The same voice from before replied. Fredrick wrenched his eyes open, trying to stay awake. He was beyond pain now, he had been for the past three hours. There was so much his nerves just stopped transmitting it. The person looked down at him. "Fredrick right? Don't worry. You're safe. Can you try to keep your eyes open for us? Just until you go into surgery. There's a knife broken off in your side that we need to remove." His voice was comforting to the little kid, barely nine, who was scared. His eyes looked around wildly, almost as if he was looking for his attacker.
"Don't worry," another doctor said, half walking, half running beside him, "your foster father is gone. He won't hurt you. I'm Dr. Lopez. I'll get you out of this hospital alive. You're not the first person I've had to do surgery for to save their life."
