A/N I was busy with this book over the summer, so enjoy! I have other chapters, should I post them all at once or spread them out? I'm excited for this, finally time for the action. Just to let you know, things are just getting started! Thanks for 1.2k reads and and thanks for all your support.

Silverpaw raced into camp, no longer caring if she got caught or not. Behind her she could hear the thrumming pawsteps of Finchpaw as he struggled to catch up. She was a faster runner than most of the other apprentices.

Up ahead she saw the camp and the silhouette of Dewpool, who was on watch. "Hey," she called. "What are you doing out of camp?"

"Foxes," Silverpaw gasped.

"What? Where? Are they chasing you? How many?" Dewpool asked anxiously. She peered around, squinting into the darkness.

Silverpaw slowed to a stop, panting. "Dozens of them. They didn't see us, I don't think. But we need to attack, quickly."

Dewpool turned to Finchpaw, and he nodded. "It's true. I saw them too. Lots of foxes."

Dewpool hesitated. "I should bring you to the leader myself, but I need to continue keeping watch if there's foxes about. I guess I'll just trust you to go there yourself."

"There's a reason why we told you. We're trying to spread the news, don't worry. Whatever, there's no time to waste." Silverpaw dashed through the thorn tunnel with Finchpaw on her heels.

"Foxes!" Silverpaw yowled. "Foxes! Everyone, quickly!"

Faces started peeking out of dens, some curious, some scared, and some annoyed. "What's going on?" asked a bleary warrior, blinking slowly.

"Are we under attack?" a queen asked fearfully, pushing her kits back into the nursery after they poked their heads out.

"Not yet, but we could be," Silverpaw answered grimly.

This raised a caterwaul of voices, and Silverpaw was unable to distinguish any one cat from the rabble. They continued shouting questions until Gingerstar padded out of his den onto the High Rock.

"What is this?" he asked, head sweeping from side to side to take in the commotion.

"Silverpaw says that the forest is full of foxes!"

"They are coming to attack us!"

"We must prepare to fight!"

"They will kill us all and eat our kits!"

He held up a tail for silence. "Silverpaw, is this true?"

Silverpaw hesitated. "Well... I don't know if they are going to attack us, but they are foxes."

"How many?" Gingerstar asked.

"Dozens. I would say that we outnumber them only because many of them were very young or very old. But there were still more adult foxes than any of you have seen in your life," replied Silverpaw.

Noise bubbled up again until one voice broke the chaos. "Wait a second. How did you see this? You have been confined to the camp as a punishment," Moonpaw pointed out.

Silverpaw growled, almost inaudibly.

"Yes," agreed Specklenose. "Would you care to explain why you were out of camp so late at night?"

Silverpaw and Finchpaw looked down at their feet. Finally, Silverpaw looked up. "I was planning to get revenge."

The crowd hushed.

"You weren't possibly planning to attack dozens of foxes with just the two of you, were you?" Fernblaze asked, shocked.

"The plan was to just attack the one den, but then we found all of the others and realized that we were over our heads," corrected Finchpaw.
