Oliver felt his confidence shatter as Yuki raised her eyebrow at the boy. "Please?" He added, not wanting to sound condescending.
"What's in it for me?" Yuki asked. Oliver laughed nervously, as he shuffled through his things. Oliver took one bag and handed it to Yuki. She looked inside, surprised.
"Apples and rope..." she said hesitantly.
"Yeah. I saw you grab it." Oliver scratched his head. Yuki picked up pretty quickly that the boy was very socially awkward, but she thought it was cute, in a way. Sven started whining, and so Yuki handed the reindeer an apple and took one for herself.
"We'll leave in twenty minutes." Yuki smiled. "Gather your stuff, One-eye."
"One-eye?" Oliver frowned.

Miku felt the cold cripple up her skin, causing goose bumps and all kinds of sores. It was two weeks since Oliver left, and Miku felt so much worry for the boy. Everyone was suffering at the Kingdom, but Miku gave everything she could to the people.
The castle was almost full of sick, poor, and freezing people. Fires had to be lit with of furniture, most people only had little bits of food, and tension raised high in the kingdom. But Miku hoped she could keep the people safe as they could be in this environment.
Word has reached surrounding cities and kingdoms of their misfortune and hopefully, somehow, they'd send supplies. Even through all this, however, she still felt incredibly fretful.
What had the King and Princess thought as they ran away, as people slew their name? What had Oliver thought as Len's anger grew? What did she herself think? Why did she care?
It was a lot of questions she probably wouldn't get answers to, but it didn't matter. What mattered was the countries survival. Well, that's what she tried to believe.
"Miku." Miku turned in surprise.
"Yes, Father?" Gakupo had a habit of just appearing. It freaked most people out, but they almost instantly forgot when they saw his kind smile. This time, however, he didn't smile.
"Miku, I'm worried." He said. Miku looked right into his eyes.
"W-why? I bel-believe in Oliver." She said, but her face didn't quite say that.
"I know you do, but it's been two weeks. Shouldn't we at least try to help?" Miku was about to protest, but was cut off. "You don't want to force anyone out into the woods?" Gakupo guessed. She nodded.
"Don't worry! I've already gotten volunteers."
"What?!" Miku choked. "Wh-who?" She wasn't expecting this, she really wasn't, but she straightened in an attempt to regain for composition.
"I got a group of people who were in okay condition and were willing to set out into the mountains. It's fine." Gakupo smiled, trying to calm the girl. It was silent.
"What's the catch." Miku asked, finally. Gakupo sighed, turning away from Miku and grabbing a small candlestick from a wagon to their left.
"Your sisters are going."
"Gumi and Sonika? Why would they want to go?"
"I have no clue. Presumed glory, destined fame, maybe they just care about you." Gakupo presented the idea like it was obvious. Miku breathed in sharply.
"Then I'm going as well." She said. Gakupo turned back to her, a look of surprise painting his face.
"Excuse me?" Miku felt her knees buckle, but stood up straighter.
"I'm going. If something's wrong, then Oliver needs me." She gulped. "Is there a problem?" Gakupo grinned.
"Of course not. I'm just wondering what would happen if something happened to you." He mused. "What would the people do?"
"Nothing will happen." She said, choosing to ignore her father's question. "Someone get my horse!" Miku cried out, walking away from Gakupo, and walking away from that conversation.

"So the king and the princess froze over everything?"
"Correct."
"And I'm not calling you mental?"
"I... Don't believe so?"
"What has world come to?" Yuki sighed. Oliver shifted in his seat.
"Nothing that bad, I don't think."
"It was a rhetorical question." Yuki rolled her eyes, questioning why she agreed to this. "So I won't be in any direct danger?"
"Oh course not!" Oliver reassured. "They would never intentionally hurt someone." Yuki raised her eyebrow, but didn't speak another word. The silence was so awkward, Oliver couldn't stand it.
"So, what is with the reindeer? Is there a story behind that, or-"
"Shush."
"Huh? Is it a hard sto-"
"Shut up!" Yuki barked. "Sven, stop." The sleigh came to a slow stop. Yuki blew her lantern out and started listening to her surroundings.
"Wolves." She stated, eyes widening. She picked her reins up in panic. "Wolves! Sven go!" The reindeer didn't wait to be told again.
"Wolves?" Almost as if waiting for Oliver to ponder their existence, two gray wolves pounced on the back of the sleigh. "By his bones!"
"Don't curse in my sleigh!" Yuki yelled. "Get the matches!" And Oliver did, grabbing a blanket and throwing the blazing roll at the wolves, pushing them off.
"More are coming!" Yuki growled. This was not her best day. She stood and turned to Oliver. "We're coming to a cliff! Get on Sven!" The prince didn't object. When he was on, Yuki started climbing on as well.
Another wolf jumped on the sleigh, approaching them slowly.
"Cut the reins!" Oliver yelled. Yuki just looked between the reins and the wolf. "What are you doing?" Hearing herself being chastised, Yuki tensed. Reluctantly, she cut the reins just as Sven made his jump.
The wolf, along with the sleigh, plummeted to the bottom with a bang. Yuki jumped off Sven and ran to the edge. She fell to her knees and stared at her broken sleigh.
"No. No, no, no..." she muttered. "It's... It's... That had everything." She breathed shakily.
"I-if... It helps, I can get you a new sleigh."
"I don't want a new sleigh!" Yuki screamed. "I want the sleigh my mom gave me! Can you do that, prince boy!? I don't think so! This is your fault." Tears streamed down her cheeks as she clenched the snow.
"I'm s-s-so-"
"Just go!" Oliver felt like she just stabbed him. He turned and left, not daring to speak another word. Sven plopped down next to Yuki, who scratched his chin softly.
But Oliver didn't have a companion. Oliver only had his thoughts. And right now, he was thinking about how much pain he has caused.
