“Wakey Wakey! Rise and shine Kelly!”
Karli yells in my ear and then continues to dump ice cold water on my face.
“Karli!!”
Karli bends down and whispers,
“Doesn’t this seem familiar?”
I say in a menacing voice,
“You had ten seconds to run.”
Karli laughs and says,
“Yeah, right.”
I pretend to start to get up and countdown,
“Ten….nine…”
“Mom!”
Karli ran out of my room. She slammed the door shut making a few things in my room rattle. My phone pinged when I put my head back on my pillow to go back to sleep. I growled and mentally cursed whoever decided to text me. I smiled when I read who it came from; yep I most definitely don’t hate this person. You guessed right, it was from Austin. It said,
Good morning Sunshine J
Sorry I can’t make it today. My mom’s forcing us to have quality family time.
Thinking of you – Austin
I frowned, I was looking forward spending the day at the pool with him and his friends, Alex and Sam and their girlfriends. I guess I wasn’t going, it would be awkward for me. I reply.
Haha have fun and good morning to you 2
So can you cancel for me? I really don’t want to go if you’re not going to be there
Xoxo-Kelly
I lie back onto my bed facing the celling. I play with my phone waiting for him to respond. I look at the clock, it was already 9:30. Who wakes up so early during the summer anyway? My phone rings and One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful fill my room. I smile and answer,
“Hey Austin.”
I hear him chuckle and say,
“Hey Kelly, I’m sorry for cancelling and I feel even worse that I actually texted you instead of calling.”
I smile, my gosh dang thoughtful boyfriend, and say,
“Don’t worry as long as you call Alex and tell him we’re not coming. Then you’re completely forgiven.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to go? I’m pretty sure Sophie and Lily would love to see you again.”
Austin asks. I ask him,
“I would love to Sophie and Lilly too! But I don’t want to be the odd girl out.”
“Alright, call or text me if you change your mind. I got to go, my mom is coming over here to take my phone. Bye! Love-“
The phone cuts off and I laugh and put my phone on the charger while I go take a shower. I come out of the shower and change into a mint green summer dress with matching accessories. I go back into my bathroom and plug my blow dryer in. Twenty minutes later, my hair was straight and not wavy like it naturally is and my make up all done I make my way downstairs. My mom sees me and says,
“Hey you look nice. I thought you were going to that pool party over at Alex’s?”
I shrug my shoulders and say,
“Change of plans, I’ll think of something to do.”
My mom nods her head before yelling,
“Karli! I’m walking out this door in ten seconds! You better get your butt in the car in two minutes or I’m leaving and you’re not going to summer camp today!”
My mom smiles apologetically at me and says,
“Bye Kelly, text me if you’re going somewhere. Dad’s keys are in the kitchen and he says you can use them because he has a co-worker taking him to work today.”
I raise an eyebrow at my mother. She shakes her head and says,
“Part of the new system at their office. They have to carpool once a week because their company is going green.”
“Oh ok.”
I say and make my way to the kitchen. My mom sighs angrily and yells,
“Good bye Karli!”
She walks out the door and slams it shut. Karli comes downstairs with her bag on her back and her shoes in her hands and she mutters something about hating how our mother was being unreasonable. I laugh to myself and sit down in front of the TV in the family room. I lie down on the brown couch and think about what I could be doing today. I run upstairs to grab my phone. I pluck if off the charger and see that I had two missed calls from Austin. I shake my head that boy was ridiculous but at least he was mine. There was a text message from Sophie asking if I was coming later. Sophie was Alex’s girlfriend. She had long brown hair and large green eyes that lit up and reminded me a lot of Ella. She and Alex had just started dating but they were clearly meant for each other. Lily was dating Sam and she was the complete opposite of everybody. She had her black hair cut in a very stylish bob. She was shorter than everybody but her personality made up for it all. I replied to Sophie apologizing that neither Austin nor I could attend. I texted Ella,
Hey want to come over?
-Kelly
She texted me back,
Sorry, my mom is taking me and sisters shopping
I frown and go through my contact list and hit call.
Jessica answered on the first ring,
“Hey wassup buttercup?”
I laugh and say,
“Nothing but cancelled plans. So what are you doing today?”
“We have the same agenda! Sort of. I nothing planned for today. I was just about to call you actually.”
Jessica chirps.
“So you want to come over?”
“You know it! Is Ella coming?”
Jess asks.
“Well I invited her but she said she was busy.”
Jess says excitedly,
“I’m coming over! Take out all your magazines and nail polish and makeup. This is like going to be a sleepover but during the day.”
I laugh at my crazy friend and say,
“Alright, see you soon.”
