Saturday couldn’t have come any closer. I was completely ready for Jess’s party. Austin had said he was going to pick me up around 7:15ish but I knew he would come early anyway. It was currently 6:45 and I was still styling my hair, which didn’t want to cooperate. It curled and uncurled I was beyond frustrating. I yelled,
“Karli! Get over here!”
Probably not the best way to ask your sister to do something for you but mind you I was upset and time was running out. I slammed the curling iron down and Karli yelled at me in anger,
“That’s my curling iron! I’ve been looking for it! I’m telling mom!”
I sigh impatiently as Karli makes her way to unplug the curling iron, I stop her when I say,
“I’ll pay you $45 bucks for you to curl my hair and you promise not to be a stupid tattle-tale.”
Karli’s eyes brightened at my proposition and she smiled largely and said,
“I like getting paid beforehand.”
Karli extended her hand and I sighed and jumped up and grabbed my wallet and pulled out a 50 and told her,
“I want my change back. Write it on my board.”
Karli rolled her eyes and walked across my room to my white board and picked up an orange marker and wrote in large letters
Karli owes Kelly $5
She turned around and snapped the cap back on the marker and questioned,
“Happy?”
I smirked and said,
“Whatever just come over and don’t damage my hair, you have twenty minutes.”
Karli shoved the money in her jean short’s pocket and turned the curling iron on high and asked,
“Crimped? Big curls? Small curls? End curls? A few curls? Give me something to work off of.”
I thought about for it a minute before deciding,
“How about wavy curls?”
Karli nodded to herself and didn’t comment but instead got to work on my hair. I grabbed my phone and decided to play fruit ninja and try to beat my high score.
THIRTY minutes later and Austin incessant calling and honking from his car, I was finally ready. I got up and snapped my heels into place, grabbed my clutch bag that matched my pink sparkly dress and took one final look in the mirror. My phone rang and I answered already knowing who it would be,
Austin said suggestively,
“Kelly you have ten seconds. Stop looking at your gorgeous face in the mirror and come down here. I feel like messing up your makeup.”
I grinned to myself in the mirror, he knew me too well. I said back, playing along,
“That’s so nice to hear, but what if I want you to come up here instead?”
Karli made gagging noises and snatched the phone away from me. I felt my cheeks turning red with embarrassment, I had completely forgotten my sister’s presence. She yelled into the phone, most likely damaging Austin’s ears,
“She’s coming now! Stop being disgusting!”
She ended the call and looked at me with disgust and shoved the phone in my hand. We both walked out of my room together and before the turned up the hallway to her bedroom she called out,
“Safe sex Kelly! I don’t need to be an aunt just yet! Oh and I did a good job on your hair! You’re welcome!”
Karli’s door shut close; as if my face wasn’t red enough I’m pretty sure it just turned a deeper shade of red. I shook my head at my retarded sister and headed out and yelled as the door was closing,
