"Hey! wanna give some time to chew your food?" Jo laughed at me.
I looked up with a mouth full of spaghetti and shook my head before continuing to suck down my food like a high powered vacuum.
"Umm, Dean? may I sit with you two?" I looked up to see Castiel standing next to me staring at his shoes.
"Of course!" Jo answered for me as I washed down my pasta with a swig of my coke. "I'm Jo." She stuck her hand out for him to shake with a huge smile on her face.
"Castiel Novak." he shook her hand and sat down next to me.
"Oh, you're the new kid! where's your sister?" Jo was always the chatty type so that gave me time to finish shoveling my food.
"I, umm, not sure. Off with some boy. She's always been really good at making new friends. Dean's pretty much the only person I've talked to today." he chuckled nervously.
"Oh, is that so?" Jo winked at me and I didn't know if it was referring to Cas or his sister. "well, now you have two new friends. Welcome to California."
After lunch Jo and I went a separate way from Cas.
"So he's cute.." she smiled slyly at me, dragging out the "U" in "cute."
"What are you getting at, Joanna Beth."
"Call me that again and I'll cut your ear off. But come on! I saw the way you perked up when he sat with us. You're into him." she elbowed me in the ribs lightly.
"I am not." I denied.
"Oh, Dean, even if you haven't noticed I've known for a while that you aren't straight. Think about it: you have never felt any thing romantic towards a girl and the last few months you've even got bored with the physical part of girls." She stopped in the hallway between our two classes. "It's okay if you are, Dean. If you're scared that any of us will think less of you, we wont."
"Okay, but even if I was, which I'm not saying I am, doesn't mean I'd have a chance with him." I rolled my eyes.
"Well I had a class with Nikka, his sister, and she says he plays for the other team." she winked at me then skipped off to her class. Leaving me alone with my thoughts.

I had Cas in my last class. That's a total of four out of six classes that I shared with him. By now I had gotten him to talk a little more and be slightly less shy than he started as.
As we were walking out at the end of the day I noticed Sam talking to a really short girl with smooth auburn curls outside my class. Sam saw me and waved. Girl turned with a huge smile and ran towards Cas and me.
Or well, just Cas I guess.
"Cas! this is my new friend Sam!" she told him after hugging him. The resemblance was obvious. Their facial structure was very similar except hers was much more feminine. They also had the same big blue eyes ringed with dark lashes. I assumed that this was his little sister, Nikka.
"Him and how many others?" Cas chuckled. He seemed to instantly melt and feel completely at ease around his sister. "This is Dean. One of the two friends I made today."
"Dean? Sam's brother?"
"The one and only." I gave her a big smile and ruffled Sammy's hair.
"Don't do that!" he complained. "They moved in next door." how had I missed that?
"Isn't that great, Cassie?" Nikka said, way too happy.
"Yeah," he gave me a soft smile that made my heart flutter oddly then turned back to his sister. "But we should get going. It's a long walk."
"Walk? hell no! Dean would be glad to give you guys a ride!" Sam volunteered for me.
Cas tried to refuse but I insisted and soon we were making our way to my car. Sam tried to get in the front but I gave him a Don't-You-Dare look so he got in back with Nikka.
It was a very short ride that was spent in silence. When we pulled into our driveway Sam invited Castiel and Nikka to dinner since our dad was grilling tonight. Nikka happily accepted for her and her brother. They went home to get ready and said they would be over around five.
That gave me an hour and a half to get ready myself.

"So your brother have a girl in his life?" I already knew the answer but I felt it would be weird to ask Nikka, "so I heard your brother likes dick?"
Sam took Cas off to talk about some smart kid thing which left me with the perfect timing to ask little Nikka about her gorgeous brother.
"Oh, no! if you hadn't noticed he doesn't like girls. He's pretty open with his sexuality. Surprising you didn't know." she dipped a strawberry in some whipped cream.
"Well it's not something that comes up in conversation." I chuckled. "'Hey what's your football team?' 'oh, steelers! and I'm gay!' doesn't work like that."
She looked at me like I personally offended her, "do we really look like Steelers fans? did you miss the part where we're from Indiana? Colts fans through and through!"
I laughed harder, "well that's good cuz me and your brother? if he liked Steelers... that wouldn't work."
"What wouldn't work?" Cas asked from behind me. Making me jump and turn bright red.
"Being friends," Nikka covered for me, "we're talking about football."
Sam and Cas rolled their eyes at the same time. My dad called that food was ready so we all piled onto our little ypicnic table in the back yard and scarfed down his homemade hamburgers.
"Those were amazing." Cas smiled up at me. "Thanks so much for inviting us."
"Of course!" my dad patted his back, "you come on over whenever you want. You'll always be welcome here."
"I'm really stuffed... I think i'll head home." Nikka stood up. Sam offered to walk her home and they left after she said thank you to everyone.
"Wanna... come up to my room? I could show you my CD collection." He just stared at me for a moment. I blushed and stared down at my shoes, "or if you'd rather I'll just walk you home..." I ran a nervous hand through my hair.
"No no. I'd love to see your room." he smiled a heart warming smile.
