Honor POV
He was sitting at his desk, not even hiding the smell of scotch that he had. Knowing my little brother he probably downed the whole bottle.
“Hey baby bro, when did you start drinking again?” Crap, I knew that he had it hard the last time he went on a binge, but when he called me to ask me to come down to the office that he has found Rory and didn't know what to do I knew I had to diffuse the situation. Last time he was taken to rehab and, what the hell… “Logan… wake up!”
“Huh..”
“That is the most uneducated and stupidest response you could have as a greeting. Now get your ass out of that chair and come with Josh and I for lunch. We can talk and you can get the poison out of your system.” This is ridiculous… he needs to be able to handle his stress in a more productive day. Pick up a paintbrush, hit the gym… something productive.
Since we were little dad has always been a workaholic so we never really saw him and mom is the reason Logan is the way he is. She would always be obsessive and stress smoke or something would be wrong and she would take all kinds of pills or my father would have some lipstick on his collar and she would drink herself into oblivion all for attention to escape reality. I'm sick of it and I want nothing to do with this immature behavior.
“Logan… I'm serious. You called me, I'm here so either get out of that chair and join me for lunch or I'm gone.” I'm not going to deal with this anymore. Even if he is my little brother. There has to be limits and I'm not going to put my children in the situation where they see him like this.
Without saying a word he gets up and follows me to the car downstairs. We get to the cafe and meet up with my incredible husband Josh who is lucky that I even looked at him I the first place, but we really do complement each other. He is saving us a table as we get there. I love love love the sichuan salad it has a nice kick, and only this place has it with the “honor approval seal” so josh always knows what to order for me.
“Hey sweetheart… captain sparrow over here finished all the rum and hasn't said a word since. Let's be kind and let him sulk a little longer. In the meantime let's enjoy our lunch”
“I took the liberty to order for everyone I hope that is ok.” Josh is still quiet spite my efforts to try to get him to open up. He had gotten better when he is around me, but for some reason when my family comes around he freezes up and right now is no difference.
“And that's the reason I married you!” I say with a laugh and lean over for a kiss.
Halfway through our meal I notice Logan still hasn't touched his sandwich so me being the fabulous person I spoke up. “I hope you don't expect me to momma bird that over to you and force you to eat! For Christ sake eat something and soak up that alcohol or I'm going to start calling you Shira and stop answering your calls.”
Mumbling incoherently he says “it's all my fault..”
What now baby brother? The alcohol content that is currently turning your blood to scotch? Yes, that is all your fault.” I'm losing my patience but at least he is talking.
“It's all my fault.” Ok I'm kinda concerned because now that he is talking he won't stop saying those four words.
“What's your fault baby boy?” You think I would have stabbed him with a hot poker the way he looked at me. No not looked, he glared at me. What the hell did I do?
“Don't call me that. I don't ever want to hear you say that again.” Holy cow what did I say? Baby boy? Holding my hands up I say
“I'm not sure what happened, but I'm not the enemy Logan. You need to focus on what's in front of you and talk to me because otherwise I don't appreciate that tone. What happened? What is all your fault that made you feel like you had to drink enough scotch to fill the Grand Canyon?”
