(Y/N)'s POV

The sidewalk becomes damp as rain starts to pour down over me. My limbs begin to shiver as the temperature drops substantially. My breath becomes visible as I huff from picking up my pace. My mind races as I think about dad... I can't even imagine what he's feeling right now.

Suddenly I remember about Noah, my little brother. I quickly take my phone out of my pocket and call him. He answers after a few rings.

"Hey bud, where are you?" I ask.

"At a friend's house. Why?" He says, making me sigh in relief.

"Dad and Emma had a fight, and I just don't want you to be at home right now. Can you spend the night with your friend?"

He's silent for a moment. "Yeah that's fine. What about you?"

"I'm gonna go to Isabel's. Don't worry though, it'll be fine. Just get on the bus for school with your friend tomorrow, and I'll try to pick you up later" I explain.

"Okay, well I'll cya tomorrow then..." he has a slight upset tone to his voice.

"Hey it's okay. It'll be okay, trust me. I'll call you in the morning, k?"

"Okay...love you."

"Love you too. Bye bud" I end the call and grip the phone to my chest in hopes it won't get too much rain on it.

As I look at the road signs, trying to figure out which way to go, I think about my mom. My biological mom. She did the same thing as Emma when Noah and I were really young. We didn't know why she suddenly left until Dad explained it to us when we were older and could understand.

Dad is one of the sweetest people I know, if not the sweetest. He would do anything for Noah and I. I hate seeing him upset.

My thoughts and feelings start to get to me. I feel my eyes start to sting and my nose gets that tingly feeling as I start to well up with tears. As I walk along the sidewalk, I find a bench and sit down in hopes that I could calm down a little.

I hunch over and bury my face in my hands, both to cover up my crying and to warm up a little bit. Suddenly in my peripheral vision, I see car lights flooding around me. I look up towards the light but the rain and darkness makes it almost impossible to see who it is.

The car begins to slow down as it gets to me, which normally would freak me out, thinking I would get kidnapped but I feel helpless right now. Eventually it comes to a stop directly in front of me.

"What the hell are you doing in the rain?" A familiar voice calls out as a shadowy figure emerges close to me.

I look up at the familiar voiced figure and see Levi peering down at me. His dark hair quickly becoming soaked from the rain pouring over us. He hastily puts a jacket around my shoulders. "I-uhm" I try to form words but my mind doesn't let me.

"Just get in the car before you actually catch a cold" he says, referring back to what Miss Hange said earlier. He takes my hand and helps me up from the bench and leads me to the passenger side of his car. He opens the door for me, and I hesitantly get in.

He gets in the other side and turns on the heater. "What happened? Did someone hurt you?"

"N-no. I'm fine. I just don't want to be home right now" I try to explain, but really don't want to say that much.

"My place."

I look towards him, confused, "wh- what?"

"You can stay at my place" He says quietly while driving away from the bench.

My face grows red, but not from the cold or from my crying. My face feels hot as I blush slightly, but then I quickly feel a little uncomfortable, "I-is that legal?"

He doesn't respond.

The ride is silent. We don't say anything to each other. I can't tell if it's from embarrassment, nerves, or something else. It's hard to tell with him. I'm not even sure what I'm feeling in this moment, but it's enough to keep me quiet.

After the painfully awkward ride, we get to Levi's house. It's decently large and actually seems to match his personality. It's dark and modern, yet sort of bland. It doesn't have a lot of character.

I slip out of the car and stand at the end of the walkway to the porch, waiting for him. I suddenly let out a big sneeze.

"Great, you already have a cold..." he comes up beside me and hovers his hand beside the small of my back, quickly guiding me to the front door. Finally I get under some cover from the rain as I stand on the porch, waiting for him to unlock the door.

Levi struggles to unlock the door as he's rushing, but eventually he opens it. He quickly heads for his fireplace in the room straight ahead of the entrance, and turns it on. "I can make you soup" he offers, walking to the kitchen.

I smile a bit at his kindness, "oh thank you, but that's okay. I'm just really tired right now." I continue to stand at the doorway, not wanting to get any part of his house soaked. I set down my backpack by the door.

"Okay, that's fine. I'll be right back" he rushes towards a different corner of his house. I look around a little, scanning the rooms around me. The inside is like the outside. Contemporary, bland, lacking color.

Levi quickly rushes back to me with a little cup of a mysterious red liquid and some clothes. "Here, take this" he hands me the cup.

I stare at it, not sure if I should take it from him. I should probably be warry of what the liquid could be, but I take it anyway. I'd like to assume Levi is trustworthy. Upon drinking it, it instantly becomes obvious that it's cough syrup. The disgusting, thick, artificial cherry tasting shit that my dad made me take when I was a kid.

I shudder at the gross flavor and cough a little. I feel like I'm overreacting, but the taste is just awful. It's like taking a shot of alcohol. I look at Levi and he seems worried, but still lacks expression. "Here, put these on" he takes the cup from my hand and swaps it for a t-shirt and flannel sleep pants. "The bathroom's that way. Don't worry about tracking in water, I'll just clean it" he points to the room.

"Alright..." I shuffle to the bathroom, and lock the door behind me. I quickly get out of my clothes and hang them over the shower rod so they can dry. I find a random towel and dry off the thin layer of dampness on my skin.

I take the shirt and pants Levi gave me and notice a pair of boxers fall onto the ground. I cock my head at them, wondering if he purposefully gave them to me or if they got stuck between the clothes without him realizing.

Realizing the underwear I still have on is also completely soaked, I'm going to hope and pray that he gave them to me purposefully. I slip off my underwear and bra and hang them up as well, hiding them underneath my other clothes so he wont see them.

I put on the boxers and clothes, and they immediately warm me up. I let out a long, deep sigh at the overwhelming comfort.

I walk out of the bathroom and see Levi sitting at one end of his couch, tea in hand. I slowly walk up to him and sit on the opposite end. I see another cup of tea on the side table next to me, and assume I can drink it. I take a sip and it feels smooth and warm going down.

The fireplace heats up the room nicely and provides a cozy, flickering source of light. I let my head hang low as this cold has hit me really hard. I never realized someone could get a cold so fast.

Suddenly feeling fuzzy, my thoughts begin to fade as I start to doze off. Levi rushes to my side and takes the hot tea from my hand before I spill it on myself. As I start to sink into the couch, he catches me and lets my head fall onto his lap.

Normally I wouldn't be this vulnerable with someone I don't know very personally, but my thoughts are currently less than coherent.

The feeling of a warm hand rubbing my back comforts me further, sending me quickly to dreamland.
