'When you graduate from "Being In Love" to "Loving Someone" you understand - Love is not about owning, Love is about wanting the best for them, It's about seeing or Helping them achieve great heights, with or without you. Love is not what you say, it's what you do.'

Shaheen P.O.V.

I walked down the hall to Rohit's study, utterly bewildered by Varun's weirder-than-normal behaviour. On getting to the study, I realised I wasn't the only one who was confused. The door was open, allowing me to hear the conversation between Varun's brother and babhi, letting me know that she was as perplexed as I was.

For half a minute, I stood awkwardly in the doorframe, unsure if I should go in or not. After my brief moment of indecision, I realised I wouldn't get any answers if I didn't go in so I knocked on the door, making them both turn to look at me. 'Shaheen?' Rohit asked, sounding quite surprised.

'Hi.' I greeted with a small wave.

'What're you doing here?'

'Uh, honestly, I have no idea. I just came to drop Alia off and she told me to come in and Varun sent me here. He said you'd explain.' I told him.

'Alia didn't tell you then?' he questioned, further confusing me.

'I haven't been told anything.' I said with a shake of my head.

'Neither have I.' Jaanvi put in.

'Alright, you two better sit down.' he sighed, gesturing for us both to take a seat, shutting the door and taking the third chair before beginning to explain.

'Let me get this straight: they're pretending to be married because Varun decided to lie his ass off instead of simply admitting to his feelings?' Jaanvi asked.

'Well, Varun isn't exactly one for admitting his feelings.' Rohit justified. I stayed silent, not knowing if Varun's family knew about his last serious girlfriend; I only knew bits myself, purely because I had been with Alia when she had overheard the conversation that ended up bringing about the end of the relationship and she'd explained the situation hurriedly as she'd frantically tried to get a hold of Varun. Given what I knew, I could see why he wouldn't want to tell the truth but I didn't like that my baby sister had been dragged into the middle of it. However, it certainly wasn't my place to go telling anyone about what had happened, so I didn't say anything, just listened to the other two speak.

'I don't think there's anyone in the world that likes to admit to their feelings, that doesn't mean you lie about shit like that!' Jaanvi exclaimed.

'I know that! But Varun decided to be an idiot and made up some elaborate story and, for God knows what reason, he now refuses to tell the truth.' Rohit explained, sounding tired. Of course, I knew exactly why he wouldn't tell the truth but evidently they didn't know about Imara so I kept my mouth shut.

'So he's dragged Alia into it and she's just going along with it?'

'Apparently.' the director sighed.

'What for though? I mean Alia's a smart girl, surely she knows better.' Jaanvi stated. I couldn't help it, I laughed at that. The two turned to look at me, both equally confused.

'Seriously? You think she needed any kind of motivation?' I scoffed.

'What d'you mean?' Rohit questioned, eyebrows raised.

'Oh come on, Alia never needs persuasion or reasoning to do something for Varun.' I told him, shaking my head.

'What?' Rohit asked, looking even more confused.

'Rohit, Alia would do anything for that boy, literally anything. I don't doubt she'd give her life for him.'

'What makes you say that?' Rohit asked, looking at me almost challengingly. Jaanvi, on the other hand, seemed to know what I meant, a look of understanding dawning on her face.

'Rohit, Shaheen's right.' she said quietly. He looked between the two of us, completely bewildered.

'But that doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't she need a reason?'

'Because she thinks that doing these things will make him happy and that's reason enough for her.' I explained, hoping he would catch on.

'How the hell does her going along with his convoluted plan - that may well end up ruining their friendship - result in Varun's happiness?' he demanded.

'For the first time in six years, he's serious about a girl. Alia will do anything to make sure he doesn't lose this chance with her because she thinks he's happy with this girl. To her, putting their friendship on the line is worth it if it means that Varun gets his happily ever after.' I told him, barely able to refrain from snapping at him. It's not his fault, I reminded myself. Varun's the one behind this mess. Rohit's just the middle man. Don't shoot the messenger.

'And how do you know that? If Alia hasn't said anything about any of this, how do you know?' he shot back. At that I couldn't hold it back anymore. I knew Alia would likely murder me for letting anyone know but it was the only way to make Rohit understand.

'Because I know my little sister. And I know that she's completely, blindly in love with your oblivious little brother.' Whatever retort Rohit had been thinking of died on his tongue as my words sunk in.

The room was silent for a long moment before he spoke again. 'Oh shit.' he muttered. I nodded, trying not to think of the likely outcomes of this situation.
