Logan POV
As I walked down the halls to my next class, I cock my head to the side, as I pretended to be interested with the walls, not making any eye contact whatsoever.
"Hey," said Ace, breaking the silent tension between us, "I'm sorry for the fight. I should've... I should've--taken a smarter approach to it."
I look at him, and sighed. "It's fine! It's fine... that bully got what he deserved." I gave him a warm smile as the empathy was kicking in.
We continue the walk-in silence, as we approached our next class. I walked through the doorway, and entered the large auditorium called "Classroom A", the first thing I noticed is that the entire room is almost full.
"You're nearly late. What happened?" said a girl who sat next to us.
"Yeah, yeah I can tell I'm late." replied Ace, not really caring about it too much, rolling his eyes, "No shit, I didn't know that."
"I heard there was a fight. Did one of you two just watch? Or worse. Did you participate?" the girl with light brown hair asked, with her eyebrows raised suspiciously at us.
"Yeah, I did" replied Ace, not really thinking that it was a big deal. After all, fights happen pretty much every minute.
"Alright, alright. Class is in session..." announces the professor. "For any newcomers, my name is Professor Nio. I'll be teaching you History, and Alchemy." Professor Nio gave the warmest smile, and said, "Welcome."
"Today, we are going to continue our unit of the thousand-year-war. Now, please take out your textbooks and flip to page Five Hundred Sixty-three thousand, Four Hundred twenty-nine."
The was a collective groan, as the class got out their foot-long textbooks, and searched in vain for the right page.
"Now, as you can read from the pages." Professor Nio said, he pointed his fingers at a piece of chalk, and it began to write words on the board. "This page is an exact replica of the original Prophecy. Created by an unnamed man, titled by history: The Creator of the Prophecies."
Ace scoffed, "This is such a bore. Here I thought something special would happen..." I simply nodded at his comment. Ace placed his foot on the edge of his desk and forced his chair to tip by pushing.
"Hey! Put that foot down, and your chair too!" Ace heard a feminine voice say. Ace's pupils shifted slightly and had a clear view of that girl once again, this time with a definite look of anger. He shot her a quick death glare, before the girl let out a quiet yelp and turned her head back forwards. She shifted her head down a little, feeling disappointed.
"This man is also responsible for giving the eight artifacts which helped rebuild the original eight cities," Professor Nio explained calmly, "We haven't gotten to that yet, but it will be less boring, I assure you." he said with a soft chuckle.
The chalk that was writing on the board had finished. It had written down a copy of the prophecy on our textbooks. "Now, this Prophecy is more vague and mysterious as the ingredient list for our lunches." he joked. "Anyway, nobody has had any true luck at deciphering what it truly means. Does anyone have any questions?" He asked.
I decided to raise my hand, hesitantly.
"Yes... Logan?" he said, his eyes darting to my hand, and then to my face.
"Uhm... Sir, I was just wondering... what if the prophecy is... fake?"
Professor Nio looked at me with kind eyes, he looked as if he was trying to resist blasting me with information. "Well, you see... W-we know it's credible because we have, around Fifty-Thousand eye-witnesses of the Prophecy being read. According to history, the man known as the Prophecy Creator traveled to the eight cities, and recited the Prophecy. I assure you, it is verified, bonafide, and as real as it gets..." He laughed trying to make the situation better for me, which did not help at all.
