Logan POV

"Ya couldn't save some for me?" Said the girl with dark brown hair, unimpressed by the display of skill. She aimed her bow and shot the remaining. "By the way, the name's Sally, and sadly for you, I don't do signatures." I rolled my eyes and smiled. As I continued to hack at the dirt, making a safe path to the other side of the courtyard.

Ace turned his head and saw Sally. His eyes were filled with fury, as he angrily stomped over to her. "Listen, Sally," he said, in a harsh tone that I had never had heard him speak in before. "Never. And I mean NEVER mention my father's name to me. Understand?" His eyes made contact with her, showing how mad he was

Sally smirked, and said, "Who? Dante Krait?" Provoking him further. That girl has a lot of nerve.

A vein popped out in Ace's forehead. He spun his guns, turned his back, and walked forward. He placed the two guns next to his ears, and pulled the trigger rapidly. He had taken calculations earlier, and knew where to shoot. His bullets went right past her ear, so close that you could hear the whoosh that came from the bullet. It also went right through the middle of her legs, and one even went through the space between her index and middle finger.

Sally's smirk faded a bit. But her bravado did not. "You won't, Calculator-boy, I know you won't."

"Call me a vegan, guess I just don't kill pigs," he responded to her, with a slight smirk of his own.

"Take that back right now, Demon Junior," she said, aggressively. Her calm tone thrown out the window, faster than a vegetarian confronted with a slab of steak.

"Make me. What you gonna do, huh?"

"Stab your face with an arrow, that's for sure."

"Oooooh. So scary... a stick with a point that could easily be broken. What ever will I do?" he mocked. His grin was slowly getting larger, as his insults got ruder.

"Run for your life, that's for sure when you see what I'm made off-"

"Unless you can shoot 2,500 feet per second, I'd love to see what your made of. Maybe it won't all just be annoyance."

"Are you flirting with me-"

"Flirt? With you?" He repeated, looking at her, before erupting with laughter. He collapsed on the floor, his olive ears turning red from laughter.

"Can you two refrains from all of this bickering, and travel along the path I've created for you before it's gone?!" I finally yelled. I sighed, those two. They are like an old married couple needing a divorce. Wait a second....

"Hey! Over here!" Said a familiar voice from the other side of the courtyard, where we just came from. Professor Nio, and three other students were following him. Sally turned around, and stared, shocked at one of the students. Sally ran over and hugged him.

Ace, stood up, laughter gone and wiped his tears away. His guns shifted back into his Aura. "Back to business," he said, in his normal monotone voice.

"I thought you were dead..." Said the student, which was a boy, which looked strikingly similar to Sally.

"I'm sorry, Josh."

"What would I ever do without my sister?" The boy named Josh said. Wiping tears from his eyes. They let go of their embrace, and everyone looked at me.

"What are you waiting for! LET'S GO!" I yelled. I panicked, my usual quietness was fading away as I loudly mumbled to myself, the taint began to slowly creep over the large path I made.

Ace walked over to the path, finishing it quickly before anyone else could reach. "My lord. What a bother." He said, glancing at Sally and scoffing. "He will never be my father..." He mumbled.

Logan shrugged, and continued to walk forward, as they exited the school. Everything was eerily silent. "Do you think they all made it?" I asked Professor Nio. Who had accompanied us.

Professor Nio opened his mouth. Hesitated, and closed it. Silently withdrawn.

As we walked through the forest that surrounded the school, Professor Nio stopped in his tracks.

"I shouldn't be telling you this but, dire times calls for dire measures. There is a secret temple somewhere near the mountains to the north." He said. He then took out a compass from his pocket. "We should keep heading in this direction. Maybe there could be refuge there..." Nobody made a comment. We were all too tired and overwhelmed by the attack to mutter any reply.

We walked through the forest in silence. Ace kept looking down, and shrugging whenever someone looked at him.

They had been walking for a while until they stumbled upon a large, stone entrance.

"What is this...?" Asked Sally, uncertainty in her voice.

"This..." Replied Professor Nio "Is the Temple of Secrets. A sanctuary created by the Prophecy Creator. Nobody knew of it until... somebody accidentally discovered it."

The entrance was a small rectangular nook in the mountain-side. The entrance was blocked by a large... weird slab of stone. Engraved on it was an eight-pointed star, which had symbols at each tip.

For some reason, I felt drawn to it. As if it was some beautiful sight. But I felt nothing like that. Instead it was some sort of a longing. Like a-

"Hunger..." I said quietly. Nobody noticed me.

"Well look! Our only hope for survival. A giant rock," said Sally, irritably. She picked up a stone, and threw it at the engraved rock that covered the entrance. It didn't even make a scratch.

I slowly step forward.

"What are you doing?" Said Ace, speaking for the first time. I ignored him.

My body seemed to be walking on its own, stopping when my face was five inches away from the stone. I held my hand out, and touched the stone.

The engravings began to glow.

Soon, I could fully see the eight-pointed star, as I step back, astonished and confused at what was happening. Everyone behind me stared in awe.

The star seemed to rotate, and the symbols began to pulse with energy. And the star was soon spinning so fast, it was impossible to see it clearly. And just as suddenly has it had happened, the rock disintegrated. Like smoke in the wind.

"What. The. Crap." Said Sally and Josh at the same time.

I turned around, and I saw astonished expressions painted on all their faces. I sighed.

"Well, now that it's open, I guess it's time to see what's inside it," I say.
