As we walked home we talked and talked, catching up and getting to know my sister. I can’t believe I went nearly my whole childhood not knowing I had a sister, especially Jade Stone! She is or was, I should say one of the best super villains of all time! I watched all her movies, even the TV series. I couldn't get enough! I always felt i had this connection to her, but i could never have fathomed that it would be more than a celebrity crush.
When we arrived back to Kanca, there was a celebratory parade, balloons, dancers, fire stick twirlers, buffets, and floats. All this, for me? I didn’t really do anything, well at least anything extraordinary. I saved my mom. That's what is important.
"Go ahead Lithianthus, this is all for you, go have fun. Enjoy it," my mother smiled."
"But mom I can't. I went more than 10 years without you or Jade! How can I go celebrate it if I barely know who I’m celebrating for?"
"Lithian, you're celebrating for you," Jade said.
"No, I’m not going. I’m going to go home, and get to really know my family. I’m not going to celebrate getting you back without you guys too."
"So it’s settled then. We'll all go together!" My father laughed.
He was right. It was settled, this is my family, and that’s that.
Life has gotten so different now. Everywhere I go, people stare or congratulate me. It wasn’t anything major that I did! My father did most of it! He took me there! He showed me what to do! I can't keep going on having people thinking I’m a hero. I can't escape this, even little kids run up to me like I’m some celebrity, I’m not!
"Lith, are you okay? You've been in there a terribly long," mother questioned.
"Yes mom I’m fine."
I just realized I was standing there for 20 minutes just putting my x-ray contacts so that no one is singed to a crisp. Mom says that I still have more learning to do before I can go out and go to The School of Prometheus and the Gifted. Which I agree! I’m not a hero like everyone says I am.
Now that we're back to a family. I think I could confront Jade. We've become pretty close, we do so many things for each other. We defend each other, you can tell we are sisters. I think it's time to lay it all out on the table.
"Hey Jade, can we talk?"
"Sure thing."
"So, um I was wondering. I know we sort of talked about it in the Cavern, but why did you kidnap mom? I mean, why did you do that to me? You grew up with her as a mother, you knew I needed her, why?"
"Lithian, don't be like this. You're going to take this and turn it into something it’s not, just don't worry, we're together now right?"
"No! I don't want another person saying that we're together! I want answers, it’s not like you decided you would mess my life up because you were disowned! Now tell me the truth Jaden!" I was screaming by now.
"You know you are never to call me Jaden!"
"But why! Why can't I call you by your real name! Huh?"
"Lithian! You wouldn't understand. You won't understand ever!"
"Yes I will! Don't doubt me! Just tell me!"
"You're my Niece! Your mother is my older sister! Our age difference was so far apart that we saw it best to let you believe that when the time came. I was just 10 when your mothers and mine parents past on. Your mother was 25 and your father was 29. They had to grow up pretty fast, I didn't have any other family that would take me in. That’s why they were able to kick me out when I joined that group, think about it Lith, you're reading the Mila, you can't abandon your children. It all works out, I'm sorry," she said sincerely
"So this means... You aren't my long lost sister?" I looked up in tears.
"Well, no. How about you’re long lost Aunt?" She said smiling.
"Why would you lie to me like this? I thought I actually had a sister!" I screamed.
"Well, I’ve always been considered Fae and Khrysos' daughter, it’s just biologically I’m not."
"How will things change now?" I asked.
"Well, I have to pack my things, and move out. I'm way past the age limit permitted by the laws. I have to live on my own for now on. I was planning on telling you this later, but now you know."
This was so hard to believe. I was so happy, now my world was spinning, we we're brought back together just to be torn back apart. I felt like my heart was ripped out and put through a paper shredder. I watched Jade pack her things into boxes, one by one taking them out the door, is this really happening? As she carried the very last one out she turned to close the door...
"I love you Jaden," I said with tears rolling down my face.
"I love you too Lithianthus," she said with a half-smile. Then turned and closed the door. I heard the click and knew she was gone forever. Back to that lonesome Cavern.
It has been two months, no communication with Jade. This is really depressing. I can't go on, but I have too. The fans keep coming. They even have spoons that look like my face. So this is what hero’s do all the time. Alright. So here I go. I opened the door, turned back to look, my father was sitting at the table with my mother, he smiled and nodded.
