After I left the lunchroom, I started walking fast. Which turned into a jog, then turned into a run.
I didn't care where I was going. I just need to be somewhere that I can clear my mind in peace.
I slowed my running into a jog then to a walk as I was getting near the girls bathroom sign.
I took a deep breath and went in, slowly. Hoping no one was inside.
Once I turned the corner, I blew out a huge sigh. It was only Layla.
Layla was once part of our group until she became a bad influence and left on her own terms. Me and Carrey didn't mind one bit when it happened.
She used to be one of us, a smart and well-dress individual, until her mother past away and now all she has is her grandma and aunt.
She turned to drugs as her getaway or vacation when things didn't go her way. Now, for her free time, she smokes weed, at lunch she sniffs coke, and when we leave school, she drinks alcohol.
I still couldn't quite get why she had to be this way. Used to be on the honor roll with perfect attendence but not anymore, shes the total opposite of what she used to be.
We took a minute and look at eachother. Not saying a word.
She blew out a puff of smoke, threw the used cigarette on the ground, and stomped on it.
"Long time no see, Natasha" Layla said in a hasty voice.
I swallow what was big down my thoat and gave her a crooked smile.
"Yeah, its been a while" I replied, scratching the back of my head.
"Never seen you down these bathrooms before. Better yet, this hallway. You know you are at the part of the school where kids doesn't give a shit about their grades, right?"
"Yeah, I realized. I just needed a place to clear my mind. I got a whole bunch of stuff that's going on and I don't like it at all."
She smiled, showing her not so white teeth.
"Aww, little miss perfect not getting what she wants?" Layla said, switching her hair part.
"Now you are living the real world. You finally realizing that not everything has to go YOUR way. I learned that the hard way and look where I'm at."
She took out another cigarette from her jean pocket and a lighter from the other. Flipping the knob, a spark of light popped up from the container and rubbed its self against the end of the cigarette. Layla took a deep breath, pulled her head back, and puffed out the smoke.
Durning this process, I was covering up my nose to block out any excess smoke from going inside my lungs.
"You see, what the rumors said about my new change, wasn't true." She said finally. "I didn't became who I was because of my mom's death, because that would have been dumb as fuck." She slowly turned her head to my direction and start walking towards me.
"No, I became this way because no one liked who I was before. Secrets arised saying I slept with many boys at once and having romantic affairs with teachers. None of that was true. Being nice and smart doesn't end you up with college, it ends you broken and fragile." She stopped in front of me and put her cigarette in her mouth.
I finally got the courage to say something before she began again
"Why exactly are you telling me this?" I asked her.
After breathing in the smoke, she smirked and pulled the cigarette out.
"Because.." She blew the smoke up to the celling. "I'm warning you about your friend. She's dangerous and a conniving son of a bitch. She took my true love away from me, I was soo close into getting him to love me and what do I get? Another plate full of lies, all told and made up by her."
Just listening to this gave me shivers. Would Carrey do this just for a boy and attention?
"I won't tell you what boy she stole from me. That's something you just have to figure out. But if you seem like something ain't right all of a sudden, trust your gut and leave as soon as you can. Cause 9 out of 10, your gut is telling the truth."
And with that, she left the bathroom with her cigarette weaved under her fingers.

Wow, some information we got there! Do you think Layla is telling the truth or is she just saying that to scare Natasha?
Thanks for reading!
