"Appparently, me and Ethan are cool now." Carrey said during breakfast the next day.
I literally choked on my milk when those words came out her mouth.
"Cool? As in, you still going to homecoming with him!?" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, we cleared things up. When Andre left me at the parking lot, he was there. He said he was on his way to football practice but before he left, he gave me a ride home and came back here. We talked the whole way there. I guess it was a misunderstanding."
What the hell? How can it be an misunderstanding if you heard somebody saying you was going to get raped tonight? That doesn't make any sense.
I knew she had to make that up in order for her to transition to the next part of her plan.
"I guess that's okay. Just watch out okay? I don't want you to get hurt." I said finally.
"I got this Nat, don't worry about it. Everything is under control."
Well, since we on the topic of things, I should ask her why she pulled that little stunt after lunch yesterday.
"After Andre found me yesterday, we saw our bookbags outside the school doors. Did you see anyone perhaps carried our stuff outside and if you did, do you know why?" I asked.
She didn't say anything for a while. Matter of fact, her face gotten pale.
"Oh, wow.. No, sorry I didn't see anyone take your guys stuff. It had to be for a good reason to pull something like that though." She said, scratching the back of her head.
"Right. Where was you at the time? You was sitting at the table watching our stuff was you?"
She started looking down, moving pieces of hair that was falling on her face.
I got her where I want her now.
"You see, I was.." She began until Andre came at the table putting his stuff down.
"Goodmorning guys. How's everyone?" He said cheerfully, sitting next to me.
I tried to hold in all my emotions as I felt his body heat touching my shoulder. I know he sat by me numerous of times but ever since last night, I just feel different around him now.
"Hey Andre. I'm doing well." I said smiling.
"That's good, how about you Carrey?"
She looked up and her face turned back to normal and a small smile formed in the corners of her lips.
"Great, I should let you know that we don't have to do the little 'experiment' anymore. Me and Ethan are going to homecoming still."
Andre's face fell but quickly gives her a weakly smile. "Uh, that's pretty cool. I'm glad you guys are still holding strong."
"Yep, is your girlfriend still coming to homecoming?" She asked.
That's when I looked down.
Damn, I totally forgot about her. Did I just butt in their relationship at a bad time when the actual girlfriend is already on her way here?
While in my feelings, I felt a hand grab mines underneath the table and giving me a tight squeeze. I gave the person beside me a side eye to see him already staring back at me.
Then I realized.. I was the girlfriend.
"Actually, she is." He said, smiling back at me.
My heart skipped a beat. Maybe even two.
I can't believe I have a date to go to homecoming.
