That's right everyone, MTAMM is officially back in business... I have been editing and adding to the story and it's almost ready to come back. I am going to upload chapter by chapter like I usually do with my stories because I don't have it all ready yet, but I am so happy to have it back online. I bet you are too. So, please, enjoy this new version of Mated to a Married Man...
(CHAPTER ONE)
I was seated in my assigned seat for History when I felt my shoulder being tapped. I turned to look at the kid behind me, I raised my eyebrows as he handed me an envelope with my name on it.
I turned back to my desk and opened it. Inside was a cut-out heart with writing on it.
Marissa,
He’s mine now.
Claire.
I looked at the letter one more time before shoving it back into the envelope and pushing it into my school folder. I hated her; I absolutely loathed her; her being Claire Jones, my ex-best friend. The girl Dylan dumped me for, the girl who was now his mate for life. This could possibly be the worst day at school I had had all year, and it was only the first day. I looked down at the desktop noticing how the graffiti and the destruction had suddenly gotten so much more interesting.
The bell rang and I snapped my head up. Thankfully the end of the day was near and I only had one more period before I could return to my ice-cream eating and watching sad, sappy movies routine. I stopped at my locker and replaced my History book with my English one before heading to my last class of the day.
I was happy for one of two reasons, one being that it was the end of the day and two being that English was my favourite literacy class, Art being my favourite extracurricular subject. I hoped that this year’s teacher was good because I wanted my senior year to be one I would never forget.
~
The class was good despite the fact that we had a fill-in teacher. The teacher had spent a good amount of time explaining that she was only a fill-in for our substitute who would be teaching the class whilst our real teacher was on maternity leave. It was confusing and everybody was still recovering from her little speech. She said it was probably going to be for a few days and she wasn’t really sure why the substitute wasn’there.
Although I, and any other werewolf in the class, knew that it was a lie. She knew perfectly well why the substitute wasn’t in: The new substitute was a werewolf joining our pack and that he had to be under watch for a few days to make sure he wasn’t a threat.
A lot of gossip had broken out about him and his wife. Most of it was just made up stuff but I had accidentally heard some of the real stuff from my mother’s conversation with the pack’s Luna, Kylie.
“…. The poor thing lost her mate and he hasn’t found his yet. Got engaged and eloped almost instantly.” Kylie was telling my mother.
“What happens when he finds his mate? The poor girl’s,” My mother said over her third cup of coffee that morning.
“I have absolutely no idea, but I hope he ends up with his mate. Elizabeth is a nice woman and all, but she’d be stupid to think he’d kill his mate to be with her.” My mother agreed with a nod.
“How is this woman, Elizabeth?”
“She’s young, and pretty - but in an overly done, false way. I hate to say it but her attitude is simply atrocious.” Kylie complained to my mother.
“Oh, how is that?”
“No manners. Expects the world’s at her feet. A little bit dense too and illiterate. I’m surprised her husband can stand that, what with him being an English teacher and all….” They had stopped talking soon after for I had to say goodbye to my mother before heading for school.
As soon as the bell rang I headed for my locker. I shoved my books inside and closed it, wanting to get home as soon as I could. But, God had other plans for me.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Claire’s rich, melodious voice called out. I turned to look at her. I wish I could say she was an evil, ugly wench but none of those could describe her appearance. Evil, maybe, if you were describing her personality. But ugly and wench, were far from the truth. Her thick, blonde hair fell to her chest in waves. Her blue eyes shone like sapphires and her lips were lusciously full and pink. I had nothing on her with my dull, black hair and doe-like green eyes.
“Well?” She asked maliciously. The girls behind her laughed and stared down at me like I was dirt. Heck, to them, I probably was.
“Home, I was going home.” I answered.
“Why would you want to go there? Why would anyone want you there?” I mentally rolled my eyes at them, knowing if I did do it to them they’d make my life hell – even more than it already was.
“Because my mother loves me; she actually talks to me and listens to my problems and doesn’t send me to therapy to spill my emotions out to someone who is getting paid to listen.” My wolf got hold of me and blurted out. Her eyes widened in a mix of shock and anger.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
With my wolf still in control, I pulled out a twenty and handed the money to her. “Give that to someone who’ll listen.” I said and walked away for the first time since Dylan cheated on me, not afraid.
I left the school, the sounds of Claire’s shrieks hitting my oversensitive ears.
