(CHAPTER TWO)
“You’re having a what; for whom?” I asked sleepily. My mother had come into my room at the crack of dawn to wake me up for a party.
“We’re holding a little get together to welcome the newcomers. Now go shower and get dressed in something nice. Luna Kylie and I have worked out butts off for this and nothing or no one will screw it up. Now, get going.” She skulled the rest of her coffee and slapped my butt, pushing me into my bathroom.
I jumped up and down like a little girl as my bare feet touched the cold tiles. I rushed to the toilet. Closing the lid I stood on top of the toilet and started undressing. Werewolf or not, cold was still cold.
I eventually got into the shower after leaning over and turning the metal knobs. I waited for the hot water to pour into the shower before leaping in. I yelped as the water scorched my skin and turned the cold on, balancing it to a nice warm.
I never liked showers in the morning, they were too overrated. Like how they say the water beating down on you woke you up so you could face your day with a bright and clear mind. What a crock, the water falling against you just lulled you into a deep sleep, and that’s what it did to me.
I awoke to my mother’s banging on the bathroom door. I reluctantly turned off the shower and got out. Wrapping myself in a soft, cashmere robe I walked into my room to my chest of drawers. I pulled out a matching bra and panties set and climbed into them groggily.
“Marissa? Are getting dressed?” My mother called from behind my closed door.
“Yeah,” I called out to her as I flopped on my bed. I always had trouble with putting jeans on after a shower. Grunting and groaning, heaving and huffing and a whopping five minutes later, I was still struggling with my button.
“Dang skinny jeans,” I grumbled. By now, I had given up on them altogether to look for a shirt. I didn’t really care about presentation at this point as long as I was decent to go out in public was all that mattered. I slipped on a dressy, sleeveless, violet top with ruffles around the neck. I stepped into some black flats and returned to my nightmare of a button.
Focusing on the button, I breathed out and put all of my bottled anger into threading it through hole of my jeans.
“Gah,” I panted as I succeeded. I jumped around in a victory dance.
“I did it! I did it!” I chanted as fist pumped the air.
“Marissa, what’s going on in there?” My mother asked worriedly.
“Nothing mum,” I said as I opened my door and walked out. “Don’t we have a get together to get going to?” I asked her when she didn’t move. She nodded and walked downstairs. God, my mum probably thought I was freak!

“Why host a party if the recipients aren’t even going to show up?” My only friend Gabby asked. She was a little chubby but wasn’t unfit, unlike me. Gabby loved sports.
“I don’t even think it was for them in the first place. I think they just had it so they could gossip about them.” I answered her. As a server walked by with a tray filled with glasses of champagne, I snagged one. He gave me a questioning look.
“What?” I asked him and he sauntered off. I took a sip of the bubbly liquid and nearly gagged.
“How do you drink that stuff?” Gabby rolled her eyes at me as I skulled the glass.
“I don’t really drink it. I just needed a buzz I guess. Blame it on the rebellious nature of my wolf.” I sat down next to her on the pack houses porch steps. The party was outside but the more important members of the Underfalls pack were inside discussing business.
