(ELEVEN)
I rang the doorbell for the second time. Frustration was pooling in me and I was a hairsbreadth away from kicking the door down. As I raised my fist the door opened and revealed Kyle casually standing completely shirtless in the doorway. I had to fight back the gasp that was building up in me. He had such a beautiful body. God, what was I thinking? This is Kyle, Gabby's older brother, not some random eye candy.
"What's up?" He asked, nonchalantly.
"Is Gabby here?"
"She just left. Why?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
"We were supposed to spend the day together." I could feel my face fall as I said this.
"I'm playing COD, wanna play?" Kyle liked to play solo or in very large groups, never one on one. This was... different.
"Sure, why not?" I shrugged as I walked into the pack house. I walked into the lounge room as Kyle went upstairs to search for a shirt.
I sat down on the plush, brown couch and got comfy. Kyle had been taking his sweet time looking for a shirt to cover his wondrous body with the six pack abs and lustrous biceps and pecs. As I sat there, my mind kept going over different scenarios involving me, Kyle, a boat and a deserted island.
Just as my mental happy ending came, Kyle burst into the room - freshly shaven and clean - with a completely different outfit on and dripping wet hair. That's what took him so long, he'd had a shower.
"Sorry for the wait." He said as he went searching for his second Xbox controller. I knew he wouldn't be able to find it because he didn't have one. All the other guys brought their own controllers; something about how each controller is different for each person.
"Stop searching." I said after another three minutes.
"Why, did you find it?" He asked, half turning to face me. I shook my head.
"No. You don't have a second one remember?" He stood up straight and walked over to the couch before flopping on it next to me.
"That's right! Wanna watch a movie instead?" I nodded my head as he stood up and walked over to the shelves of movies that they had to offer. I was so in my thoughts that I didn't even notice I nodded my head at Kyle's movie selection. When he sat down next to me again, I turned to look at the menu screen.
"Are we seriously watching Batman?" I asked him.
"Uh-uh, Batman: The Dark Knight." He corrected. I shook my head at him slightly, silently laughing at him. He pressed play and the opening credits started. After a few silent moments I turned to him.
"Why are you doing this?" Kyle turned to face me, a confused expression occupying it.
"To be nice," He replied.
"But why,"
"Because my sister ditched you for her mate.... Plus, I'm bored."
"And lonely," I asked in a mocking manner. He scowled.
"I don't get lonely." He defended.
"Everybody gets lonely." I stated. I could feel his stare on me and I slowly turned to look at him. He had this sad look in his eyes and his mouth was turned into a frown.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"I found my m-" He started to say when there was a loud knock on the front door. Kyle excused himself and went to answer it. I sat on the couch and pondered what he had been about to say.
I heard noises and shuffling of feet before a mass of sweaty smelling guys entered the house and the living room. They all dropped their gym bags and made themselves at home, sitting on the couch and the floor when there weren't enough seats. I lowered my gaze to the ground as I waited for Kyle to return.
When he finally came back, I stood up and realised it was a big mistake, everyone took notice of me now. I kept my gaze on the ground until I walked over to Kyle who stood by the door.
"I'm going to go now. I have to go grocery shopping and there are some errands around the house that need to be done. Thanks for everything." I said as I walked past him. I was vaguely aware of him saying goodbye as I exited the large pack house, shutting the door behind me.
Its okay Marissa, you just need to go home and settle down, do some yoga, have a soak in the tub, eat something and get started on the English assignment that you've been holding off for a long time. Nothing's going to harm you once you step inside your house.
Your.... Me.... Mine....
That was comforting to hear. It truly was 'my' house now, now that mum was in Victoria and living with David Delaney. I was happy for her and for me. To be honest, I was happy in general.
At least until I noticed the very familiar black car in my driveway. How did he know where I lived?
