(CHAPTER NINE)

I stood in front of Mr. Maas as he sat in his desk chair with a smug look on his face. I bent down and rested my hands on his chest. I reached in and nibbled on his earlobe, delicately, ferociously. I pulled back and walked around the desk until I stood next to him. He had already turned to face me, his hands folded on his lap. I walked closer to him and straddled him, my legs folded in half beside his legs. I rubbed my inner thighs against him, the bulge in his jeans pressed against me roughly. He let out a groan.

I placed my hands on his shoulders and leant in, trailing kisses along his jaw. He shivered under my touch and placed his hands on my lower back before crashing his warm lips against mine. Ian’s tongue slipped inside my mouth and fought for dominance. He moved his lips down my jaw and further down my skin. As he kissed my neck, I arched my back; pressing my chest flush against his. I tilted my head back until I faced an upside down Elizabeth. I smiled smugly at her.

What is going on here? Her voice rang out through the crowded classroom.

The phone rang, breaking me out of my confusing dream. I fell out of bed and ran down the stairs to the kitchen phone.

“Hello?” I panted into the speaker.

“Marissa? Is that you? What’s going on?” My mother’s worried voice poured out of the speaker of the phone. I sighed tiredly as I rubbed my eyes and looked at the wall clock. 7:58 it read.

“Yeah, mum, I’m fine. Just tired is all.” I reassured her. “Why are you calling?”

“Is there something you’d rather be doing than be on the phone to me?” Sleeping; dreaming of my hot, married mate; going to the bathroom to take a leak; or eating. You pick.

“Nah, I’m just surprised you’re calling. I thought you’d be at work or something.” I lied weakly. I think she believed it,

“Well, that’s the thing. I’m calling to let you know, that I have been offered a job here permanently.” I felt my jaw drop but other than that, I couldn’t move.

“W-what; did you save “move” and “permanently” in the same sentence?” I finally managed to get out. This was ridiculous.

“I knew you’d say that honey. I’m sorry. And that’s why I decided, I don’t want you here.”

“That’s nice to know mother. Thank you so much for those kind words.” I said sarcastically. I heard my mother chuckle into the phone.

“I didn’t mean it like that, Marissa. What I meant was: I know you won’t want to leave and I’m fine with that. It’s your last year of high school, and you’re eighteen in a year so it’s pointless moving you here if you’re just going to move back as soon as you’re of age. So, you are staying here and that’s final.”

“Thank you, mum; you can trust me, I won’t screw this up.”

“I know you won’t.” She paused, and through the phone I could hear muffled conversation.

“Mum, who are you talking to?” I asked. I heard her sigh.

“I met someone.” She answered hesitantly.

“That’s so great mum. I’m happy for you; really. So, who’s the lucky guy?” I could tell my mother was not expecting that type of reaction, but it was her life; what could I do?

“David Delaney. He’s a partner in a rival law firm.”

“Ooh, forbidden love.” I could practically hear my mother’s blush.
