Let us start with a congratulations to PiesandThighs with their story Paying For It!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏In exactly one word, how do you feel having placed 1st in Chicklit?
Chuffed
[Such a rare word to hear somebody say now-a-days: I love it.]
Did you expect it to happen?
Not necessarily, as I was up against some great books.
Why had you joined the awards?
I joined for the exposure and the feedback. It's always good to know where you stand.
What inspired you to write Paying For It?
I've thought about writing a book that started out with mistaken identity for sometime. It has taken a life of it's own and now is focused on two couples with their stories intertwined.
How did you discover your passion for writing?
I started reading from an early age and I have always created my own stores- in my head and on paper for a long time. In 2016 I decided to put fingers to keyboard. My first book was awful, but I kept at it and I feel I get better with time.
What advice would you give to those who have started out writing or thinking of entering any of the many awards on Wattpad?
For the awards: Go for it! You get your book out there and hopefully you get feedback that will help you as well. It is tough to take criticism, but it does help you improve in the long run as we authors are nothing without our readers.
Newbie advice: There is no surefire way to get more readers EXCEPT to read the books of others and comment, join contests to get more exposure, join book clubs, and above all- keep writing and improving your work as well as interact and THANK your readers. Don't get discouraged if you have a few reads, keep at it and eventually they will come. Best of luck to everyone!
Aren't they just swell? If you have any other questions for the author, tag PiesandThighs in a comment below with the question you have for them.
(This is the only one that seems to have been saved whilst I had WIFI, I'm just uploading it through my phone since I can't use my data as a hotspot [its in my contract]. But do not worry, the rest will join as soon as they can!)
