It was such a long time..

Long ago, back when the light was so close to being defeated, someone rose to oppose it. He had a slim chance in winning against such a powerful enemy, but he managed to succeed.

It was difficult, the enemy was none other than someone he dearly loved back then.

With a strong mind and courageous heart, he did something for the better future. 

Purifying the dark, corrupted foe who was driven by hatred—they were forced to be separated from each other afterwards. The man, who remained as the great Legendary Hero and Chosen Knight; lived on with a heavy heart. Desperately wanting to see the girl who had claimed his heart in his every day life.

The girl remained as the one burdened to reap souls, Death. She waited and waited, patient for his time that's coming soon.

They weren't supposed to be together in the beginning, she was the dark, and he was the light.

They aren't supposed to blend.

But they have other plans.

The time came when the female has to reap his soul, for he was old and weakened. She, however, remained the same physically. It was a burden, indeed.

The moment the Hero's flame died out, these two were reunited. After the long years of waiting, they were finally back in each other's presence. They couldn't be any happier. Some said that the Hero had been granted the power opposite to Death, for they were a pair that blended so well that they would be able to balance good and evil along with death and life.

It was also mentioned that these two remained, keeping the balance stable in order to please the Goddesses and the Hylians. No one wants war.

Death comes in and is in charge of the drought, the withering, and more. This came in nature, and has to be done. When that season's done, Life comes to revive everything in place.

It was the first Era wherein the Hero's heart resided in someone not entirely bounded to him.

In the next following centuries came, the Era of Time.

The reincarnated Hero along with his reincarnated partner, his lover from long ago. They fought and travelled in time, restoring the peace and light in the land, thus rescuing the captured Princess.

This time, however.

Fate won.

The Hero's partner was severely heartbroken, and parted ways with him despite his cries and pleas for her to stay. They lived in the dark, heartbroken, and regretful.

Alas, they never met again.

In the Era of Twilight, she had no chances against the Hero's childhood friend.

It was yet, another time where they parted ways.

This, time, though. The Hero had lost his partner in battle with a sacrifice of her life.

Afterwards, at all the Eras that passed by—fate still won.
