Chapter 9: Preliminaries

Everyone was standing in lines. Kabuto's team, all the youngest genins from Konoha, Team Guy, and Gaara's team were the only teams that made it. Kin was watching from the spectator area above, not being able to participate since Naruto killed her teammates. Hiruzen Sarutobi was standing in front of the group of genins.

"I'd like to personally congratulate for all of those who had passed this exam. But sadly, there are too many genins who have passed the 2nd Exam to be able to go on to the Third Exam. Therefore, we need a preliminary round." He then gestured towards a sickly looking man, who was coughing a few seconds before. "This is your proctor, Hayate Gekko. I'll let him explain the rest." Hayate walked forward.

"Thank you Hokage-sama. Okay, since there are too many of you, we need to have a preliminaries. The rules from the second exam will apply to this one as well. Killing is allowed, but it is highly discouraged." He said the last few words with a glare and a bit of KI. "Two names will show up on the board up there," He said pointing towards a large board. He was about to speak again, but was interrupted by a coughing fit. After he was done, he continued. "So, will everyone except for..." He paused looking at the board until two names showed up. "Sayuri Uchiha and Yoroi Akadou please leave the battle area and proceed up to the balcony." The genin squads cleared out, leaving just the two of them. Naruto was looking at Sayuri.

"You won't be able to use any chakra. You-" He began but was cut off.

"What do you not understand about not talking to me?" She said harshly. He looked at the ground, his fist clenched tightly.

"As. You. Wish." He said and gave a mock bow to the Uchiha before turning away and walking up onto the balcony. 

Im going to go ahead and call out all the fight scores since everyone knows I don't like doing long fight scenes, so, the victors!

Sayuri vs. Yoroi: Sayuri

Temari vs. Tenten: Temari

Kiba vs. Choji: Kiba

Sakura vs. Ino: Tie

Shino vs. Kabuto's other teammate: Shino

Rock Lee vs. Kankuro: Rock Lee

Neji vs. Hinata: Neji, now to continue the story right after they stop Neji.

Naruto had dropped down off the balcony and held an angry glare at Neji. "She is your family, you have no right to treat her like a rat." He spat out. Neji glared right back at Naruto, even though he was being held down.

"Of course the Main Branch gets special treatment." He said with venom in his voice. They hauled Neji off, but not before Naruto said something.

"I swear, if I face you in the exams, I'll beat you so bad, that I'll be able to paint your own skin red with your blood." Naruto said darkly. Hayate started to intervene.

"Okay, Okay. Now," He began and looked at the board as the names showed up.

Naruto Uzumaki vs. Gaara of the Sand. Kakashi's eyes widened considerably.

"Naruto..." He whispered in a low voice. Kurenai noticed his alarmed stare and gave him a sympathetic look.

"Naruto stands no chance, if what I saw on the camera's in the Forest of Death is correct, then you might need to say goodbye to someone else Kakashi." She said, not realizing how her words hurt him. Naruto, who heard her talking from the ground, looked up at her.

"I will not be losing. I have no more reason to hold back." He said. "Stupid bitch." He commented at her. Everyone's eyes widened at his words.

"What did you say?!" She shouted at him. "I oughta kick your ass or put you into a genjutsu, how dare you talk to a jonin like this?" She looked at Kakashi. "Do you ever teach your genins respect?" Kakashi shrugged.
