When recovering.

When you're recovering from depression or eating disorder
DO NOT LOOK AT OLD PICTURES!

Cause it takes you back.
Brings back the self hate.

Cause yes you've gained weight,

Yes you're hair isn't as long,

Yes, things have changed.

But you gained weight because before you were starving yourself.

Now you're healthy.
You no longer faint every day,
You no longer have no energy through  the day.

You can leave the bed for longer than 4 hours a day.

Yes your hair is shorter,
Cause you used to pull ur hair out,
Or accidentally put it on fire cause ur hands were so shaky they didn't hit the cigarette.

Yes.
Things have indeed changed.
But today.
You are stronger.
You are healthy.
Today you're recovering,
And that's more than you could have said back then.

So before you look at old photos, don't only look at the good parts like skinny body and long hair, remember the sickness, the bad parts, the one that almost killed you.

Be brave.
Cause today you're stronger than you were yesterday,
And tomorrow you will be stronger than you were today.
