"Are you guys gonna start dating?"

"What? No. Connor's just my friend."

"Yeah, but you guys had sex."

Sabrina looks back at her best friend, waiting for her to sign into the library using the online sign-in sheet. They were meeting their group of friends here for their usual study session/social hour. The cafeteria was too noisy and the outside garden lost all of its charm when the plants died, so the library was the next best thing.

"I can't just have casual sex, no strings attached?"

"I mean, you can but when I talked to Toby-"

Sabrina spins around on her toes, her eyes narrowing, "You told Toby? What part of 'keep it a secret' is confusing?"

Lisa flicks her curly red ponytail over her shoulder and catches up to Sabrina. Today, she's wearing a lowcut shirt and her favorite pair of curve-hugging, faded blue booty shorts. Admittedly, Sabrina looked out of place standing next to her in a pair of overalls and a graphic t-shirt. They were so different, but that's what made them get along so well.

"It sorta slipped out this morning when he drove me to school," she smiles apologetically and continues, "but don't worry, he promised he wouldn't tell anyone."

Sabrina makes sure to glare at Lisa when she is referred to as "Connor's girl" as soon as they reach the table. The redhead, in return, sends Toby the same glare, her cherry red lips set in a straight line. Sabrina catches Connor's eyes as he glances up from his textbook, earbuds nestled deep in his ears like usual. Seconds pass and he looks lost, but it must suddenly dawn on him the subject of the conversation because he beams, blowing Sabrina a sarcastic kiss.

She's glad things won't be awkward between them.
