Siren's Call

Chapter 1 The Cermony

I ran down the street. I looked over my shoulder and saw my best friend. His name is Alfonse, he has shaggy blond hair and moca skin with peircing green eyes. I grined at him and turned around to start running again. This time even faster me and Al had been best friends since we were little. Right now I just wanted to run and have one more chance at childhood freedom again with him. Tomorrow was the cermony of 17 were we would be chosen for our jobs or if we would be enlisted into on of the services.

"Hey Ace would you slow down!" Alfonse shouted over the crowd in the market place. I grinned mischeivously at him.

"Okay if you say so," I said stopping in my tracks. Which caused Al to run right into me.

"Oph, Gee thanks Ace," He said rubbing his nose.

"Well what else do want to do you baby," I asked playfully.

"Don't you think you should be with your family?" Al asked I grimiced.

"Nah we'll them toninight anyway," I said walking toward the city wall. The city itself was small in what used to be Arizona in the U.S. it was stuffy but it was quite. Unlike some of the bigger cities people were able to leave to go into the nerby forest. We were in the colder part of Arizona but it wasn't uncomon for hot summers that reached up to 130 degrees (Farinhieght). Walking into the forest I took it all in. The tall trees that towered over us and the birds that sang in their branches. Al's parents had been part of the Minotaurs but during a battle they had been killed. Me being the good friend I was forced Al to stay with me and my family. He had already stayed with us before his parents died but now he was part of the family.

"Ace aren't you worried about tomorrow I mean what if you get enlisted?" Al asked worriedly.

"Why would I?" I asked he scowled at me.

"Oh do you think the Wulfsieg name will protect you?!" He demanded angrily.

"You really think that I think that!" I demanded he shrunk, "I will let you know that what I meant was that I'm not going to worry about it because whatever happens, happens the desicion has already been made!"

"Oh I'm sorry it's just that  your father always acts so confident in the family name," He explianed. His eyes met mine begging for forgivness. I signed.

"Look whatever nobility my family had is long gone besides I never cared about the family name," I told him. He nodded.

"Lets go back it's getting dark," He said heading back towards the city. I groaned I really didn't want to see my family but, Al made it bearible. When we reached my family's home many would be surprised the the most argont guy in town lived here. It was smaller for our town (witch was called Embearian) it was a canopy of plants. Long ago it was a plain gray house but now it's walls were covered in so much ivy that it was impossible to see the actual house. Growing around the house were brushes all aroud like a small fence but the hegdes were as tall as the house so the thick bushes would act was a wal against the outside world. Even with the strange house the oddest thing was the huge willow tree growing on the roof. It's branches touched the top of the hegde wall creating a canopy over the house. Going thourgh the only enterence to the yard which was covered in grass. The door was the only part of the small house that stood out because it was always clear of ivy. Entering the house I was greeted by the usual choas. My father was sitting on the coach talking to my baby brother Elliot while my step-mother was blusting around the kitichen. Then my little sister launched herself at me.

"Hey Jaye how ya doing?" I asked while petting her beach blond hair. She looked up at me with her big baby blue eyes.

"Billy Bob was picking on me again!" She said with tears in her eyes. I felt my face darken no picks on my sister and gets away with it.
