Keith walked out of one of the ABC offices, his black leather jacket, soft yellow shirt and black leather pants a little loose on him. It was a cool May day and he was talking to some of the folks at FreeForm about working on a few promos for Famous in Love.
The talk was A Famous In Love Guy Day for him and the cast.
The plan was on National Brother's Day, FreeForm would play the best movies that showed brotherhood and bromance. They wanted the guys from Famous in Love to do fun stuff in between commercials.
The brown skinned fellow walked down the company steps and towards his Jeep, he heard the voice of an angel behind him. That voice sounded familiar to him. He looked behind him, and his heart practically leaped out of his chest.
The dark skin woman he saw, resembled a crush of his- Samantha Simms.
But as Keith looked forward, he said that could not be Samantha. Samantha was always a plus-sized girl: size 18. This girl looked like a size 12.
As he walked to the car, he heard the girl say something about dropping off two scripts at the ABC office, and that she was going to go to BET and Comedy Central offices sometime in the next week. Keith settled into his car, and as he took a good look at the beauty his hear skipped two beats. That had to be Samantha.
Keith's long legs could not get out of the car fast enough, and his hands could not close the door fast enough.
He walked close to the girl who he was about to be face-to-face with. She took a double take and she started smiling.
"Ma, I'm going to have to call you back," she told her mother-in-law as she hung up.
She licked her lips because there was a tall glass of lemonade walking towards her. Her favorite type of lemonade-- Keith.
"K.P.! How are you?" Samantha said.
Keith licked his lips and said, "Samantha you are as fine as wine. You get better with age."
The 28-year-old could not lie; 24-year-old Keith was still attractive.
Keith hugged her and he said, "Sam where is all the meat on your bones? You know I like curves."
She started chuckling as they let go, and she said, "I dropped eighty pounds Keith. He grabbed her left hand to twirl her around, but saw the ring on his finger.
He smiled and said, "I see you and Jacob got married."
She gave a weak smile and said, "We got married three years ago."
"How is he?"
She looked at the ground and then looked at Keith in the eyes and said, "My husband died six months ago."
Keith said, "Sam, I am so sorry."
He gave her another hug, and she hugged tighter.
She looked at the time on her cellphone and said, "Keith. I have to go. I have somewhere to be."
She passed him her phone and told him to please put his number in the phone.
"Can we do lunch sometime?" She asked as they smiled at each other.
"Of course," he said.
She hugged him again and they kissed each other on the cheek. Something they did when they were tight, almost five years ago.
She started walking to her car briskly.
As he walked back to his car, he thought about Jacob.
He could not lie. He always had a crush on Samantha and wanted more than a friendship with her, but he liked her and Jacob together. Now knowing that dude was gone, he felt uncomfortable jumping in. He would let Samantha talk about it later.
As he buckled himself in his car, he prayed about the situation and then drove to his new house.
