Running... Faster.. Faster.. I have to keep running.
A tree root came out of nowhere, tripping me as I face planted, and skidded across the ground floor. 'I'm dead.. I'm dead.. So so dead..'
A large, familiar man walked towards me. I scrambled backwards, trying to get away from him. I was done with the beatings. Done with the abuse.
"You're mine again, Bodolf. You should know better than to run away from me like that. Now, it's only going to be worse. Not just bruises, and broken bones. I'll make sure there's blood too," the man said as he approached me.
I tried to get up to flee, but he grabbed my ankle, causing me to fall, once again, face first into the ground. He dragged me across the forest floor, towards him, and slammed my head into the ground, by pulling my head up by my hair, then slamming my face back down as hard as he could. I was pretty sure I had a concussion at this point.
He kicked me in the ribs, and I heard a slight cracking sound. I winced, but didn't dare make any noise. That would just cause more beatings to me.
He kicked me again, but hard enough to send me flying against the tree of whose root I had tripped on. My back bent partially around the tree's trunk, but surprisingly didn't break. I laid there, blood coming from my nose and mouth. I didn't dare move, but laid there, helpless.
The man continued slowly making his way towards me. I could hear his slow footsteps. Ever so slow. Just to make things worse. I licked my lips, tasting my own blood.
I heard his low chuckle. "Blood taste good, wolfy?" I hated that nickname. He gave it to me when I was just barely a pup, and continued to us it. Now, to purposely antagonize me. He tried to get me to fight him, and he always got mad that I just took his blows. I guess he thought today would be different..
"You'll never make it as alpha, boy." His voice was suddenly harmful, and harsh, like the tree branch against my skin. I moved to look at him, and sat myself up.. just to be kicked down.
"You're worthless, Bodolf! Worthless!" his voice screamed at me, and I winced away from it.
I woke up in a cold sweat, panting heavily. This was normal, having a nightmare about at least one of the several times my father would treat me like that. It's damaged how I would be as an alpha. And, quite honestly, I would have been much better at alpha if only he'd not harmed me.
Someone pounded harshly on my door, causing me to jump from my state of mind, and from my bed.
"Alpha Bodolf! The last round of Scouters just came back, and someone is threatening to cross the border!" It was my beta, Felix.
"Grab four of our best Warriors, you and I, and let's head out!" I had heard my father say that several times. That must be what to do.. right?
I threw on some black jeans, and a tank top, not exactly thinking about my scars, and headed out the door, quickly shifting into my wolf, and running with the other 5 wolves with me towards the threat.
My wolf was a shinning silver-grey, similar to my hair, with piercing amber eyes. The only thing about me that actually scared people, and why I was usually in my wolf form. He was large, and muscular, from all the running I've done in the middle of the night. He had silky soft fur. And, really, quite beautiful.
We were soon at the three other wolves that were causing a threat. The first one caught my eye. A female, with beautiful, shimmering red fur, and also, piercing, golden/amber eyes. As I looked into them, purple quickly flashed across them.
'Shit.. that's my mate... Ummmm..' I said to myself. How the fuck am I supposed to do this?
I came back to, and she was staring into my eyes, and I into hers. Her body relaxed slightly as she realized I was her mate. She barked something at the two males, and they left. I told my pack members to back off and hide under the brush, only to attack if they do.
I stepped closer to the female. "Alpha Bodolf, Alpha of the Blood pack."
She stepped closer to me. "Akino, daughter of the Alphas of River pack."
Suddenly, awkward silence. I switched into human form, forgetting that my scars where visible. Akino also switched into human form. Her hair was the same color of her wolf, and her hair went down to about mid back. I looked soft, and flowed nicely. Her eyes were a beautiful hazel.
"Would you like to be part of my pack? After all, you are my mate," I finally said.
She looked back behind her. "Well..."
