The Boy Who Cries Wolf

Chapter 7

I had fallen asleep, all curled up in my bed. When I woke, Akino wasn't around. I got up and put clean clothes on, and headed out the door. Several people greeted me as I walked past, and I nodded to them in return. I wondered around, looking for Akino, but couldn't find her anywhere. But, the one place I hadn't checked was the dungeon.

I sighed heavily and made my way down there. I heard talking, and tried to listen, but I couldn't quite hear till I got closer.

"I've already told you, pretty wolf, that I wanted him to be vicious leader." It was my father.

"If you say anything like that to my mate again, I will mute you myself," I growled, taking them both by surprise.

"Bodolf, please go back up. I've got this handled."

"I know you do, but he needs to learn to not call you that." Putting on a special glove I opened the cell door of my father's, and closed it behind me, throwing the glove between the bars. 

My father had a sly grin on his face. "Need another lesson, boy? It seems like you haven't been keeping up the Blood Pack's reputation," he chuckled.

"I've been doing just fine at it, Father. If I should even call you such a thing."

"Bo-" Akino started.

"Akino.. please stay out of this." I switched into my wolf form, a snarl placed across my lips.

"You don't know what you're up against boy," my father chuckled before switching as well. I felt bad for Akino. She's going to have trouble figuring out who's who. The only difference is our size.

"I know more than you think." I lunged for my father's throat, of which he easily avoided, kicking me against the wall.

"Do you now? The only thing different is that you're actually fighting. But for how long?~" He made his way slowly over to me, giving me time to get back onto my feet.

I glanced over at Akino. She looked like she was on the brink of coming in, but I gave her a look to tell her to back off.

I got back on my feet, shaking off the attack. "You may be fast, father, but I've learned your ways. You won't beat me this time." I snarled at him.

I heard him chuckle, and wolf chuckle isn't very pretty. "Fighting back for once, I see.. But you've learned your lesson too late!" He lunged at me and I ducked and darted underneath him, causing him to launch himself into the wall.

"Will I be the one learning, or will you?" I asked, serious. Akino hadn't said a word, which surprised me. I looked over at her, and she gave me a reassuring smile. Before it turned to worry. I looked back in front of me, and there was my father, knocking me onto my side. I landed beneath him with a heavy "huff," the wind being knocked out of me. His paw was over my rib cage, making it even harder to breathe than before. I struggled to get out from underneath him, but it was no use.

"Nice fight, pup, but you'll need some more practice if you're going to beat me." He chuckled in his evil way. I opened my eyes and looked up, and saw nothing but teeth coming for me.

Suddenly, he was thrown against the wall, and I was dragged out. Akino shut and locked the door, leaving my father in there. Without thinking, he lunged for the door, instantly regretting it as the silver doors burned his fur and skin, instead of him breaking it down. He switched back into his human form, and cursed himself as Akino sat beside me. I switched back into a human, still catching my breath, my ribs hurting.

"Are you okay?" Akino asked when I grunted trying to sit up.

"He... may have.. broken something..." I winced in pain as I placed my hand over the area that hurt the most.

"Do you need me to take you to the medicine wolf?" she asked, her voice full of concern.

I shook my head. But, in my attempt to stand up, I collapsed to the floor in pain. The pain causing me to black out. I guess that's what I get for trying to beat my father when I'm still so weak...
