Chapter 16

( Misty's POV )

Serena would stay in the hospital for at least a week. I had tried to smile, though this 'accident' made me just feel miserable. Another hurt person because of me. The worst of all was that Serena had done it herself. She had said she was a heartless, lying, mean, overreactive and selfish monster. I knew she wasn't. She was my friend.

"Thank you."Professor Oak said and I remembered I was in class. "Next one up: Leaf and Red." I gave Leaf a thumbs up as she walked in front of the class. Red didn't look at Leaf and had an angry expression on his face. An expression I knew was jealousy.

Leaf started talking about the pokémon they had chosen. I looked at Ash who sat beside me looking at the empty seats where Serena and Sky usually sat. He did love the honey blonde girl. I was certain he did. I was just a silly crush. Like I was to... 'No. Misty please stop! If you want to get over that, you need to move on! You love Ash. Give him a chance.'

I sighed and let my hand rest on Ash's. He looked at me and gave me a weak smile. Than he picked up his pencil and quickly wrote something down. He gave it to me. I took the piece of paper and gave Ash a sad smile before reading it:

I know what you're thinking. And no. It's not that because Serena has tried to kill herself I suddenly love her and not you. I chose you with a reason Mist. I LOVE YOU.

I smiled and took my pencil in my hand.

Awwww. Love you too. And I know you're just worried for Serena, I would be the last person to doubt your actions. I'm on your side. It's just that I'm worried too.

I gave the paper to Ash who quickly read and wrote something down again. He gave the paper to me and looked at Leaf and Red as if he was listening the whole time. I smiled and read the piece of paper again.

I know. And it's good that you are. That just proves you're the most caring person I know.

I laid the paper down and listened to Leaf and Red again. But this time with a smile that was actually a real smile. I remembered the first day at this school. Ash and I had hated each other and now... time flies.

I sat on my bed with Ash at the foot. May and Dawn were out shopping and Leaf was in her own room solving math problems. I wrote in my diary as Ash made some homework.

"What's a synonym for..."-Ash tilted his head in a way that made me think of Psyduck-"emotion."

"Feeling."I answered simply.

"Oh right." He quickly wrote it down. "And for choke?"

"Suffocate."I said and I frowned. "A synonym was a word that meant the same, right?" Ash nodded and wrote suffocate down.

"Only three to go. Poor."

"Meagre, right?" Ash nodded.

"Partner is supporter."Ash murmured. "And what about strange, between parentheses, language."

"Foreign." Ash made an oh-gesture and wrote it down. He turned over the page.

"No."Ash said and I looked questionable at him. "I have to do another six of these words." I putted my diary aside and laid down next to him.

"Let's see,"I said and I looked at the exercise. "One: theory. That's hypothesis." Ash nodded and wrote it down. "Two: remaining. Other. Three: stiff. I thought wooden. Four: jeer? No idea. Five: possibly is perhaps. Last one. Six: harp. Er... nag?" Ash wrote everything down and seemed to be done with English. "Is there more you need to do?"
